We had a fabulous time at the Summers End Horse Show. Absolutely a top notch venue at WEC. Thank you so much to all the show staff and volunteers who pour in so many hours of hard work to make such a lovely show for us exhibiting. And a big thank you to my fellow horse girls (Kristen Kristyn Ritchie and Becca Leigh) who are always happy to assist with wardrobe malfunctions😬😅😂🤪 and Kristen Cole for riding along as my groom and tell Vern he's pretty in the line up🤣 and we can't forget Todd Borthwick for putting on Vern's proper show shoes so he looks respectable 🤩 Now for 3 days off then get back in the truck and head to Villa Louis Carriage Classic, Inc. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

PONY SALES POST — LET’S TALK. 😂
Okay... since I currently have ZERO ponies for sale, I feel like this is the perfect time to speak my professional opinion about fell pony sales.
There are a lot of things I keep seeing on both sides of the table — buyers AND sellers — that really need to be addressed in our tiny little Fell Pony sales bubble here in the U.S.
And since I have officially sworn off pony sales for the foreseeable future... I have absolutely nothing to lose by saying it. 😅
BUYERS... LET’S START WITH YOU.
If you are not extremely experienced with Fell Ponies, that is totally ok, PLEASE hire a reputable, knowledgeable professional to help you.
We are worth the finder’s fee/commission. I promise.
I am repeatedly seeing people purchase ponies that are simply not going to work for their "intended use." Then, a few months later, I get the phone call...
"This pony isn't what I thought it was."
Well... no. Because you wanted a rare breed, 6–8 years old, bombproof, amateur-ready, experienced, versatile, and basically able to read your mind — and you wanted it for a bargain price.
Friends... that pony does not exist at a bargain price.😬
Quality Fell Ponies that are truly amateur-ready cost $$$. There is no secret "deal" on a rare breed. Those miles, experiences, training, and education take TIME and MONEY.
Fell Ponies are phenomenal, versatile equines. But you don't just sprinkle some magic dust on a 3-year-old and suddenly have a bombproof, been-there-done-that schoolmaster. Those miles have to come from somewhere!
NOW... LET'S TALK ABOUT HOLDS.
If you are genuinely serious about purchasing a pony, ask the owner/trainer if you can put a hold on the pony until you can get there to see and try it.
I don't tell buyers how many people have contacted me about a pony. Why? Because honestly, I have no idea who is actually serious until someone puts money where their mouth is.😅
I've had people across the country book flights a week in advance to come see a pony — with NO hold fee — only to have someone else come, try the pony, and purchase it before they arrive.
Then I get to make the extremely uncomfortable phone call...
"Sooo... remember that pony you were flying across the country to see? Yeah... it's sold."
And somehow I'm the bad guy who gets chewed out. 😂😂😂
If you are serious, offer a $100/day hold fee IN WRITING until you can get there.
It shows the seller you're serious, protects your opportunity to see the pony, and prevents you from losing out simply because you need a few days to travel.
And yes, the hold fee comes off the purchase price.
It's not rocket science. It's a commitment.
AND FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS FELL PONY... READ THE ENTIRE SALES AD. 😂
Please don't message a seller with:
"I didn't read the whole ad or watch the entire video."..and then ask questions that are literally answered in the ad.
Or my personal favorite...
"Can you send me a video of _____?"
THE VIDEO IS ALREADY IN THE LISTING. 😅
I understand budgets. I really do. Not everyone can afford the same price point, and that's okay!
But we also need to be realistic about what it costs to produce a quality pony.
You can't expect a rare breed with years of training, exposure, miles, good manners, solid handling, and a brain in its head to be priced like an unstarted project just because you'd really like it to be.
You get what you pay for... and sometimes you get exactly what you paid for. 😅
So, buyers — do your homework. Hire someone who knows the breed. Be realistic about your expectations. Read the entire ad. Watch the videos. Ask appropriate questions. And if you find the pony you really want, ACT LIKE YOU WANT IT.
Sellers — be honest, transparent, and realistic about what you're offering.
And everyone... let's remember that behind every pony is a LOT of time, money, training, sweat, and tears.
Let's make Fell Pony sales a little more realistic, respectful, and transparent for everyone.
Okay. I’ll get off my soapbox now. 🤪😂🐴
