Happy world honey bee day.

Wash boarding and bearding. Bearding due to the heat to keep the hive cool by ventilating air. The wash boarding although kinda creepy is due to boredom. This dearth we keep experiencing has the bees stuck at home due to no nectar and pollen resources available in surplus. Feeding colonies has become non negotiable due to lack of resources. Hopefully we’ll get a good cotton season and these bees will get back on regular schedule. That’s farming though take the good with bad and squeeze those lemons for lemonade. Keep on keeping on.

Happy national honey bee day. It’s the day to celebrate these little insects that pollinate 1/3 of the food we eat. They are vital to the survival of all living things. The honey they produce also provide safe alternatives to sweeteners. Pollen that helps with allergies. Propolis which is used in many tinctures. As well as wax that has numerous uses. Bee bread which is a super food in itself. And venom which is used in apitherapy uses and I can attest getting stung frequently helps a lot. But here’s to these little bugs that keep the ecosystem running and fascinate lots of people while working their wings off for such a short life span.
