Another DYW over and done. All the girls did a fantastic job and as always, the production was awesome! Dallas County awarded $12,000 in scholarships as well as $1,144,000 in college granted scholarships. We’re so proud of McConnell Twins student Alia Liles for winning awards in the talent and interview categories.

Yep! This pretty much sums it up!

There are some things that just make us dance people.

We look at every empty building we pass and immediately think, “Hmmm… would that make a good dance studio?”

We only really need to know how to count to eight. Then we just start over.

We choreograph in the car and create some of our greatest masterpieces while driving. The only problem is remembering them when we actually get to the studio.

We hear a new song and, before we even know all the words, we are already counting it.

We critique every opening number on every awards show because apparently we just can’t watch anything like normal people.

“One more time” has never actually meant one more time.

We can make a costume out of almost anything. Fabric, rhinestones, safety pins, a hot glue gun… we’ll figure it out.

We have marked choreography in kitchens, grocery store aisles, parking lots, hotel rooms, and probably a few other places where people wondered what we were doing.

And we call them our kids.

Not our students. Not somebody else’s children.

Our kids.

Because for the hours, months, and years they are with us, that is exactly how we feel about them.

Yep. We are dance people.

A little crazy. A little obsessed. And pretty lucky to get to call this our life. ❤️

5 Reasons Dance Will Make Your Child’s Life Better

Yes, your child will learn steps, routines, and technique. But somewhere along the way, they will learn so much more.

Your child may walk into the studio hoping to learn how to dance. But they may walk out with confidence, friendships, memories, and life lessons they will carry forever.

This week we will open our doors to new students, new friendships, new opportunities and new memories to be made. Dance teaches so much more than just steps but that first step must be taken to begin a lifetime of meaningful lessons. We invite you to join us in taking that first step toward your dance journey and helping your child become who they will be.

A Child's Resume

Imagine if every child had a resume.

Not one filled with trophies, titles, scholarships, or awards.

A resume that really mattered.

Experience:

• Learned discipline and the importance of showing up.
• Learned how to focus on a goal.
• Understood what it means to be part of a team.
• Developed determination and refused to give up.
• Learned to work with others.
• Accepted correction and used it to grow.
• Showed up prepared and ready to work.
• Encouraged and supported others.
• Learned that progress takes time.
• Handled disappointment without walking away.
• Built confidence through hard work.
• Celebrated the success of others.
• Made friendships that may last a lifetime.

Now that is a resume.

Only a small percentage of our dancers will grow up to dance professionally. But every single one of them can leave the studio with discipline, focus, determination, confidence, and heart.

Those are the qualities they will carry into their families, their careers, and their communities.

Years from now, very few people will ask these children how many trophies they won. But the world will benefit from the confidence they gained, the discipline they learned, the respect they showed, and the kindness they shared.

Yes, we teach dance.

But every day, we are also helping to shape the kind of people this world needs.
