There is a saying, “All good things must come to an end.” Well with the Sellersville Belles it first was our June Blast this past spring. Unfortunately, now, it is the team. Yes, the Sellersville Belles are “closing up shop,” “exiting stage left,” “being put to rest.” We are done. There is not one reason or reasons. It is just time.
I want to thank all of the organizations who have supported the Belles in our 30 year existence. The tournaments that gave us a place to play and compete. USA Softball for being the stable organization working to build the great game of fastpitch softball. The teams with whom we competed over the years, that gave us a run for our money, made us get better, and kept us humble and continuing to make us work because they seemed to always beat us on the field.
Over the course of 30 years, we have touched and been touched by many players and their families. We have tried to create a family atmosphere in which young ladies learn life lessons that were far more important than bunt coverages, hitting cutoffs, or hitting an outside pitch. We hoped that these young ladies have developed into independent, self-confident, respectful, hardworking, women who are also accountable for what they accomplish. We were different than a lot of other teams, but that is what made us who we were – the Sellersville Belles.
Thank you to our players, who have given us countless memories. My heart goes out to the ones who will not finish as Belles. Thank you for your hard work, commitment, and willingness to buy into what we were teaching. Thank you to our parents. For always being there to support our players. For your countless hours working tournaments, selling t-shirts, fundraising, and most importantly, allowing us to coach and train your daughters. You are all the threads that made the fiber that was the Sellersville Belles. – Thank you.
And finally, thank you to all of the men and women who have worked voluntarily as coaches of the Sellersville Belles. Your commitment to excellence, sportsmanship, and hard work, were the shining examples to our players. Your passion for the game also rubbed off on our players. You challenged them and me to be the best we could be and for that I am eternally grateful.
I wish for every organization the success of the past 30 years that the Sellersville Belles have enjoyed. Thank you for being part of our run. And maybe, just maybe, if you are at a tournament where field conditions are less than ideal, you will say to yourself, the Belles ground crew would have done better. Now on to something else. Thank you all.
