🧠💗 The Language of Safety
“Nervous system regulation is the language that speaks to the brain and touches the heart.”
When we engage in self-regulation—through breath, movement, stillness, sound, gentle presence, or resourcing—we’re sending a stream of afferent signals from body to brain.
These signals say:
You’re safe.
You can soften.
You’re held.
The brain receives this message not through thought, but through sensation. And in response, the heart slows its rhythm. The vagus nerve activates its parasympathetic branches. A relaxation response then ripples through your whole system. 🌀
This isn’t just a metaphor—it’s the very design of our biology.
Safety isn’t something we think our way into, as hard as we may have tried in the past.
It’s something we feel our way into—and learn to access through embodiment.
