A topic was brought up in conversation a few weeks ago between a close friend and colleague of mine.
How often do you ever see pregnant women working at race tracks?
We counted 3 (including myself)in all of our years in the industry.
Having both been in this industry for a long time, we both noted that my appearance at Daytona this year, while pregnant, was an unusual occurrence in the male dominated realm of motorsports.
I mean, my appearance as a Performance Coach & Physio as a female is rare enough.
As I approach my due date, I have realized that navigating my career in the sport as an expecting mother, has been faced with numerous challenges.
I love motorsports, I love working with athletes, I love the science behind what I do.
What I don’t love, is there doesn’t seem to be inclusion for those who want to have families to still be able to forge their way in the world of racing. Oh, you’re having a child- we will go with the other option. Meanwhile, I have team members who can assist while I’m away.
Owning 2 businesses as a woman definitely has it’s challenges. However, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Mamas, just know, I see you. I feel you.
Here’s to . Just a little something I needed to share with the world on this Sunday morning.
