Story Time Friday: The Song I Wrote to Save Myself
Back in 2011 I heard someone describe herself as a joy seeker and something in me just stopped.
I had been deep in the teachings of Abraham Hicks at the time, sitting in on a highlighting class at a cosmetology convention in Long Beach of all places, and those two words landed like something I had been circling for years without knowing it.
If I am most aligned with my highest good when I feel joy ~ what if I just made that the whole practice?
So I started.
And a few years later, I wrote a song about it.
I wanted something I could actually use ~ a Musical Mantra I could come back to on the hard days when joy felt like a distant memory rather than a present option.
Spectacular Joy became that song for me.
And today it is out in the world on all streaming platforms.
Recording it with Grammy award winning producer Isha Erskine was already beyond what younger me could have imagined.
And then I invited my son, my mom, my two best friends, and my partner to sing the backing vocals ~ and something about hearing all of their voices woven into the track made it feel complete in a way I cannot fully explain.
Someone recently said that success is doing what you love with the people you love. I feel that now more than ever.
