Game Day Cross-Training 🥊🏒
Not every game-day session needs to look like a sport-specific workout.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is have fun training the qualities that make you a better athlete without adding a ton of fatigue. 🔋
🥊 Double-End Bag
Hand-eye coordination, rhythm, timing, accuracy, reaction, tracking and staying relaxed while something unpredictable is moving back and forth in front of you.
🦵Heavy Bag Flow Rounds
Foot/shin-eye coordination, balance, weight transfer, rhythm, distance management, rotational movement and the ability to coordinate your upper and lower body while moving.
Hockey is a constant game of see → react → move → adjust → execute.
Cross-training with Muay Thai/Boxing can challenge those same systems in a completely different environment—training outside your sport can also help offset the repetitive movement patterns that come with playing it.
The goal isn’t to turn hockey players into fighters, unless they want to be. 😂
It’s to make them better-coordinated movers with faster response time. 📈
And on game day?
Keep it short. Keep it crisp. Keep the nervous system sharp without digging a recovery hole. ⚡️
Have fun. Move well. Get better.
