Join SSA this Thursday, February 28 at 7 pm for a screening of the short documentary "Invasion", which tells of the Wet'suwet'en resistance to the construction of the TransCanada Pipeline. We will watch the film, have a discussion, and a baked (featuring vegan and gluten free options!) All proceeds from the bake sale will be sent to land and water protectors in the Unist'ot'en territories.

CALL TO ACTION:

"protest tomorrow – Sunday, August 25th 2019, at Westlake Park in Downtown Seattle to protest the deforestation and burning of the Amazon Rain Forest in Brazil. This protest has been organized by the Brazilian community in Seattle over the last week as the news became so appalling that we felt like we need to do something. It will be a small peaceful protest and there will be some small children with us. You can find the event on facebook. Please come if you can and support this effort."

In collaboration with several organizations, the Rainforest Action Network just published a Fossil Fuel Finance Report Card for 2019 called Banking on Climate Change!

Some of the main conclusions they made are:
-Chase Bank is still the world's worst banker of climate change
-33 banks funneled $1.9 trillion into FF since 2016
-Bank financing for the FF industry is on the RISE.

Fossil Fuel Finance Report Card 2019 - The tenth annual fossil fuel finance report card grades banks on their fossil fuel-related policy commitments and calculates their financing for fossil fuels since the Paris Agreement.
