In the interest of expanding my practice, I'm going to start offering a 1/2 hour session, focused on core-balance-reactive (or core-balance-plyometric, in more contemporary jargon) option, as a way to help potential clients pinched for money and time. Feel free to DM me about specific rates, but know that, as with my one-hour sessions, discounts are available for buying in bulk (either a 4-pack or a 9-pack).
These 1/2 hour sessions are going to focus on what is actually the core of my practice - that is, the ... erm, core. No, not the abs. Well, inclusive of the abs, but the re**us abdominis, the locus of our envy for actors who play superheroes and underwear models, is actually the focus of too much so-called "core" exercises that are usually just variations on a crunch or situp, which do very little for the transverse abdominis, iliopsoas, internal obliques, gluteus medius or minimus. The cosmetic effect sought has more to do with body fat, anyway, and while I can give you (mostly dietary) strategies for dealing with that, it's not really the focus of my practice.
What's more, those kinds of core exercise often neglect to demonstrate functional application. Following NASM's guidelines for core-balance-reactive exercise gives us leeway to demonstrate core strength in stable or isolated circumstances, in motion while correcting or navigating imbalance (on one foot or in a destabilized circumstance), and at speed through launchings and landings of the body. And my adding martial arts techniques, principles, and drills keeps it fun, interesting, cerebral.
Clients seeking a less expensive option will get the benefit of the guiding principles at the heart of my own workouts while learning a warmup or short workout that can work as an adjunct to their own private lifestyle and pursuits, physical or otherwise.
