This rainy Seattle Sunday kicked off with a taste test adventure with a friend. I had stumbled across on Insta and was excited to try this new shop with all Latin-flava-inspired donuts.
Top of my "must-try" list was the January flavor (I call it Chaja after a fave Uruguayan cake, but they call it the peach & caramel I think) and my beloved Guava & Cheese donut. The other picks are down below to reflect the image (starting with top left on 2nd pic):
Passion Fruit / Hibiscus
Churro (cinn+sugar) / Peach & Caramel
Mexican Hot Chocolate / Guava & Cheese
The Churro - SHOCKED at the top pick for our taste test -- It was the winner for us both!! It was somehow lighter in texture than all the rest, moist, and not overly sweet. It was a well-balanced treat. ❤️
The Chaja (peach + caramel) was an amazing 2nd-runner up. It didn't disappoint at all. It was sweet as it should be and would be AMAZING with a strong espresso. Can we put this one in the regular rotation please?!? 🥰
The Guava & Cheese did the damn thing! It was yummy and reminded me of home. My only hope is that they try it as a top-loaded ring donut like the chaja because it was a bit too dense and not enough filling. Or perhaps more like the passion fruit donut with the sort of creme brule crusted top and a but more moist middle. All in all, it was a 3rd place winner, and I'll be back for it.
I won't go into what I didn't like or whatever bc everyone has their own preferences, and THEY ARE ALL WORTH A TRY!! 🤘🏻😋 Check out Doce in the Wallingford neighborhood!
