Back from the holiday and back in the gym! Im keeping the intensity at a 5/10 today. Jumping straight back into a heavy program is the fastest way to hurt yourself.

Here is the “Welcome Back” game plan:

• Prioritize Mobility: Spend 10–15 extra minutes on dynamic stretching to wake up joints that have been in “vacation mode.”

• Drop the Load: Aim for 50–60% of your usual weights to focus on form and mind-muscle connection.

• Shorten the Session: this could be overall exercises or volume.

This is such a full-circle moment for me. Back in college when I ran track at SU, coach Steidl was my head coach. Now she and are putting on a lifting seminar this weekend for long-distance runners, and we’re co running it.

It’s funny how things change over time—going from coach and athlete to more like peers. Still feels a little weird to say that… and honestly I don’t think I like it yet 😂
