Wilkinson Coaching Partnering with Senior Leaders to Strengthen Leadership, Culture, and Results

09/08/2026

Are you always thinking about what’s next?

✔️ New ideas energize you
✔️ You naturally see possibilities and opportunities
✔️ You bring optimism and momentum to your team
✔️ You’re future-focused and quick to imagine what could be
✔️ Your energy can help others get excited about where you’re going

You might be an Enneagram Type 7.

Type 7 leaders often bring vision, enthusiasm, and possibility into the room. They can help teams look beyond what’s happening today and imagine what could come next.

But under stress, that same energy can sometimes lead to distraction, overcommitment, or moving on too quickly from challenges that require more time and attention.

For Type 7 leaders, an important growth opportunity is learning to choose depth over constant motion – staying with what matters long enough to turn possibility into lasting impact.

In honor of National Read a Book Day, we’re sharing a few books that have been inspiring us lately:

📖 Hidden Potential by Adam Grant: An exploration of how we grow, develop new capabilities, and create environments that help other people reach more of their potential.

📖 Dare to Lead by Brené Brown: A look at courage, vulnerability, trust, and why some of the most important leadership skills require us to be willing to have difficult conversations and show up authentically.

📖 The Wisdom of the Enneagram by Don Richard Riso & Russ Hudson: A deeper dive into the Enneagram as a tool for self-awareness, helping us better understand the motivations and patterns that shape how we think, behave, and relate to others.

Reading is a fantastic opportunity to step outside of our own perspective. A great book can challenge an assumption, introduce a new way of thinking, or give us language for something we’ve been experiencing but haven’t quite been able to name.

Leadership development is really about staying curious.

What could a 32.1% increase in profitable productivity mean for your organization? 📈

In a study conducted at Philips, mid-level managers who received coaching saw a 32.1% increase in profitable productivity compared to those who did not.

That’s a powerful reminder that investing in leaders can have an impact far beyond individual development.

When leaders have dedicated space to strengthen how they think, communicate, make decisions, and support their teams, those shifts can show up across the organization – in stronger performance, healthier teams, and better business outcomes.

Leadership development isn’t just an investment in your people. It’s an investment in what your people can make possible.

How are you investing in the leaders who drive your organization forward? Let’s talk: https://calendly.com/bethwilkinson/60min

Executive coaching is one of those terms leaders hear often, but it’s also one of the most misunderstood.

Is it consulting? Mentoring? Therapy? Advice from someone who’s been there before?

In our latest article, we unpack what executive coaching actually is, what it isn’t, and why so many leaders find value in having dedicated space to think, reflect, and grow.

We’d love to hear your perspective after you’ve had a read.

You start the day with a plan.

Then come the emails, meetings, unexpected questions, and one more “quick” issue that needs your attention.

Before long, the priorities that mattered most have been pushed to tomorrow.

Sound familiar?

For senior leaders, the challenge is not always time management. Often, it is protecting enough focus and strategic headspace to keep the bigger picture in view while still responding to what the day requires.

That shift from reactive to proactive leadership takes intention. It can also help to have a trusted sounding board who helps you step back, challenge assumptions, and reconnect with what matters most.

What helps you protect time for strategic thinking when the day starts pulling you in every direction?

A busy team is not always a strategically focused team.

It’s easy to measure progress by how much gets done. But real impact comes from whether that work is moving the business forward.

A few questions worth asking:

👉 Are our priorities clearly connected to the organization’s goals?

👉 Are we measuring success by outcomes and impact, not just completed tasks?

👉 Are we creating enough space to anticipate challenges, think ahead, and solve problems proactively?

Strategic focus helps teams direct their time, energy, and talent toward what matters most.

It also gives people greater clarity around where they can contribute and how their work supports the bigger picture.

If your team is working hard but still feels scattered, it may be time to step back and realign.

Magic happens when a team begins to understand not only how each person works, but why.

That’s where the Enneagram can be especially powerful.

In team settings, it creates a shared language for understanding communication styles, decision-making, conflict, motivation, and the different ways people respond under pressure.

The goal isn’t to label people or put them into boxes. It’s to help teams:

💡 Better understand one another
💡 Recognize and appreciate different strengths
💡 Navigate tension with greater awareness
💡 Communicate more clearly
💡 Build stronger trust and collaboration

This visual offers a helpful overview of the Team Enneagram process we use with teams and organizations.

When people better understand themselves and one another, it becomes easier to work through differences, use each person’s strengths, and create a healthier, more connected team culture.

Are you the person who’s already thinking three steps ahead?

✔️ You’re loyal and dependable
✔️ You naturally anticipate risks and prepare for what’s ahead
✔️ People trust you because you’re thoughtful and consistent
✔️ You care deeply about supporting your team and helping them succeed
✔️ You’re often the one asking the questions others haven’t considered

You might be an Enneagram Type 6.

Type 6 leaders bring stability, commitment, and thoughtful planning to their organizations. Their ability to anticipate challenges often helps teams feel more prepared and resilient.

Under pressure, however, those same strengths can sometimes lead to second-guessing, over-questioning, or carrying worries that no one else sees.

The growth opportunity for Type 6 leaders is to learn to trust their inner authority and recognize that their courage is often stronger than they realize.

It’s back-to-school season, and the strongest leaders never stop learning. 📚

As we begin looking toward Q4, it’s a great time to ask yourself:

• What have I learned so far this year?
• Where am I still feeling challenged?
• What leadership skill would have the biggest impact over the next few months?
• Who in my network is helping me grow?

Leadership development isn’t something we check off a list. It’s an ongoing practice of learning, reflecting, and adapting as our roles evolve.

Coaching provides a dedicated space to step back from the day-to-day, think strategically, and continue growing as a leader – because what got you here may not be what takes you where you want to go next.

If you’re looking to finish the year with greater clarity and confidence, we’d love to support your leadership journey.
