“Well, hate may be too strong a word… but maybe not. It depends on how you define yoga.”
But then why teach it? Why still love it?

To answer that, we have to go deeper.
What is yoga, really? And is what we practice in the mainstream still yoga at all?

Dora sat down with Anna — former 200-hour trainee, now teacher, mother, poet, and all-around lovely human — for a warm, funny, and deeply honest conversation about the potential of yoga to transform our lives and perhaps even help heal the modern mental health crisis.

There is lightness, laughter, and deep sorrow woven through this short exchange as they explore some of the biggest questions of modern life:

How do we live more meaningfully?
What are we actually chasing?
And what happens when money, comfort, and happiness stop being enough?

Without giving away the beautiful ending, perhaps the answer is this:

Find a story worth living for...

At our studio, we’ve always tried to do things a little differently. Over the years, I’ve been happy to offer flexible extensions on class passes whenever students needed them, because supporting your practice and bringing joy to our community truly matters to me.

However, I’ve learned that unlimited flexibility has become difficult for the long-term health of the business. As much as I dislike saying “no,” it’s important that we create a sustainable balance that allows the studio to continue serving and supporting all of you for years to come.

I never want you to lose classes simply because life became busy or overwhelming. At the same time, having expiration dates on passes encourages a more consistent practice — and as many of us know, a little deadline can help keep us motivated. It also helps us maintain the healthy cash flow needed to keep our doors open and our community thriving.

Starting June 1, extensions for 10-class and 20-class passes will include a small fee of $50 per additional 3-month extension.

Thank you so much for your understanding, support, and for being part of this community. Your practice and presence mean so much to us.
Thank you, Dora

Renewal: A Spring Practice & Soundbath

As the season shifts and new life begins to emerge, Renewal invites you into a space of gentle movement, rest, and reflection. This offering weaves together nourishing movement, meditation, and an immersive sound bath to support you in tending to the seeds of being you are planting this season—intentions rooted in growth, care, and possibility.

Together, we’ll move with intention, soften into stillness, and allow sound to guide us into deeper connection with ourselves and the rhythms of renewal unfolding within and around us. This is a space to slow down, listen inward, and nurture what is ready to take root.

🌧 RAIN Practice
Recognize. Allow. Investigate. Navigate.

Take care of your soul by gently noticing your thoughts.
If they’re just spinning in circles, pause.

🙏 Say the Serenity Prayer.
Then shift your energy toward something meaningful—
• help someone in need
• cook a nourishing meal
• send a thank you note

Sometimes the most healing thing we can do…
is take our mind off ourselves.

✨ The Serenity Prayer ✨
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

🙏

We woke up to snow, our favorite thing, pretty good birthday present.
Bad for yoga business, but sometimes things that are good for us, come with sacrifice. and this is truly one example that money can't buy happiness. ☺️🥰😆

so good out there and enjoy.

If we want to understand ideas like free speech, equality, and the rule of law, we need to understand the long historical story behind them. These ideas did not appear out of nowhere. They developed over centuries—beginning with ancient Greece and Rome, shaped through Christian thought, refined during the Enlightenment, and carried into the modern world.

Our current culture often takes a highly critical stance toward Western civilization. Some of that criticism is justified. History is imperfect, and many institutions failed to live up to the ideals they proclaimed.

But there is also a danger in throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Western tradition is also the cradle of constitutional law, democratic governance, and the very concept that human beings should be equal before the law. Even if these principles were practiced imperfectly in the past, the fact that we continue striving to improve them today is itself the result of seeds planted over millennia.

I am from Europe, and I identify with European heritage. I sometimes feel compelled to push back against one-sided narratives. There is much to critique in Western history—but there is also immense beauty, intellectual richness, and a legacy of ideas that shaped the freedoms many of us now take for granted.

I was surprised to learn that many schools today barely teach the classical Western canon anymore. That feels like a mistake. How can we meaningfully criticize something we no longer understand? What exactly are we dismantling—and what are we replacing it with?

Criticism is healthy. But it must be informed criticism.

So I encourage people to dive into the great works of Western thought—philosophy, literature, history. Share them with your family. Read them with curiosity and humility.

Before we deconstruct a tradition, we should first understand it deeply enough to appreciate what it gave us.

Perhaps then we can both honor what was good and improve what was flawed—without forgetting the foundations that made our modern ideals possible.
