Today in history 1935 Sir Malcom Campbell became the first person to drive a vehicle over 300 mph, and it was done on the Bonneville Salt flats
To reach higher speeds, Malcolm Campbell’s Blue Bird LSR car was modified with a 2,500 hp Rolls-Royce R engine. With new bodywork, the car surpassed 300 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1935.
