Congratulations to The Gambia National Football (Soccer) Team (The Scorpions) for an impressive performance in the 2021 (played in 2022) AFCON (Africa Cup of Nations) Tournament at Cameroon. Gambia lost to Cameroon (host country) 2 - 0 in the Quarter-Finals. This is the first appearance of the Gambia in the AFCON Tournament since it started in 1957 (65 years ago).
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (also referred to as AFCON 2021 or CAN 2021), known as the TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations for sponsorship reasons, is the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
AFCON is the biennial international men's football championship of Africa organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The tournament is being hosted by Cameroon, and taking place from 9 January to 6 February 2022.
