Regatta season is almost over. If paddling with an outrigger canoe club is your thing, hopefully you’ve had a chance to experience the difference in OC6 canoe shapes when trying to make tight turns around a buoy. Here in the PNW, some races have focused on the fast turning traditional spec canoes while others have focused on the opposite end of the spectrum: the hard-to-turn Matahinas in preparation for the Hilo World Sprints. Timing the turns and the various jobs everyone has in the canoe changes quite a bit based on the shape of the canoe. Much less what the wind and water is doing. Enjoy the learning curve and figuring it all out. We strive to improve with every turn and learn with every mistake. 🤙

Paddlezoo will be at the newly renovated Kenmore Aquatic Center also known as, TI’ awh-ah-dees Park, to partake in the ribbon cutting inauguration on May 6th from 11:30-2:30. We will have the IHE paddles there for demo if anyone is interested. Come take a look at this great place to learn about Outrigger Canoeing, Dragon Boating, Kayaking and SUP. Hope to see you there.
