Fran loves to hike, bike, cook & bake, read, swim, cross-country ski and snowshoe, attend theater/plays and other cultural activities. She regularly does weight training with trainer, Laurie Leonetti. Fran offers Get Fit Yogis sessions 4x a week at the Green Lake Studio, Yoga by Fran Gallo. She is happy to live and work in the Green Lake neighborhood in Seattle and never tires of walking the path around the lake!

Not even sure where to begin! We are in Cappadocia, Turkey. The landscape is other worldly.
Pictures of my beautiful yoga group. A visit to a couple who lives in a house carved out of stone. You can see us all going in. Lovely couple. Had tea with them. Went into the stone churches to see 4th century frescoes, natural colors mostly intact. Gorgeous setting!!

Ebru (paper marbling) workshop. So much fun!
Ebru paper marbling dates back to the 15th century. In Ebru, colors float, meet, and form patterns that can never be duplicated exactly the same way.
Like color floating upon water, our lives are shaped by movement, encounter, and surprise and no two people create exactly the same pattern.
In today's yoga session, inspired by the art form of Ebru, we are reminded that our yoga practice allows for personal choice rather than one perfect expression.

You never know who is watching you (cat watching us do yoga).

Going Beneath the Surface. Just as the cistern holds a hidden world beneath the city, yoga invites us beneath our busy outer lives into something deeper and quieter.
Today we descend beneath the surface of the city—and, through our practice, beneath the surface of ourselves. Above us is movement, noise and activity. Down here is stillness, mystery and history. May this hidden cistern remind us that within each of us lies a quiet inner world: a reservoir of strength, wisdom and peace.

Imagine a deep, quiet reservoir within you. Nothing is required of you now. Allow yourself to rest beneath the surface of thought, held by the earth, surrounded by stillness.

When we return to the world above, may we carry some of this underground stillness with us—remembering that beneath all the activity of our lives, there is a quiet place within us that is always waiting.
