We are almost back…to our Happy in French Polynesia. After a longer than expected stay British Columbia, we are excited to continue journeying on Happy after a few minor repairs and bottom paint. Some good news in in Baja!

In a historic win for conservation, drone surveys in the Sea of Cortez on April 8, 2026, captured footage of a "Nursery Bloom" consisting of four adult Vaquitas and three healthy calves. This is the highest concentration of the world’s rarest marine mammal seen in a single day this decade. Biologists attribute this "bloom" to the success of the "Zero Tolerance Area," where illegal gillnets have been aggressively removed. The presence of multiple calves suggests that the remaining population—once thought to be as low as ten individuals—is showing incredible genetic resilience and reproductive health.

EPIC OCTOPUS PLAY—We have observed a total of 5 recently, and watching them camouflage is epic. This was near the beach. She took our camera (got it back) 😂 so I gave her a glass jewel. We went back in the eve and it was placed right outside her den!

FACT:
Did you know that octopi have 9 brains? And the 9 communicate like a hierarchical committee before deciding that they are 'ALL IN' for capturing their prey, for example.

These two were in the shallows of , French Poly, an atoll with only 200 people.
