Now Leland's Lures carries many products for trout and crappie enthusiasts. What began as a hobby for Jeff Smith and Todd Gainer, owners of Leland's Lures, has now developed into something more. These two, with many other friends and family, were catching more fish than anyone else on the stream. The secret kept among these friends for so many years is now available for everyone. The secret’s out!

Freestone streams can get challenging during runoff, but that extra water is exactly where the D2 Jig shines.

Higher flows give trout a reason to slide into softer edges, seams, and pockets where food is getting pushed right to them. A D2 Jig has the weight and profile to get down quickly, stay in the strike zone, and swim naturally through those heavier runs without washing out.

Jeff put that to work on this rainbow, caught on a Peaches D2 Jig fished with 2 lb SOS line and an 8 ft Trinity rod. Light line keeps the presentation clean and natural, while the longer rod helps control the retrieve through fast, broken water.

When freestone streams are up and moving, don’t be afraid of the flow. Target the softer water beside it, keep your jig near bottom, and let the D2 do what it was built to do.

That subtle purple accent can really seal the deal for Trout and Smallmouth

Some combinations become classics for a reason.

The gold jig head with a pink Trout Magnet body has been one of the top-selling combinations for more than 25 years, and it is still a favorite for a lot of anglers.

It is simple, visible, and dependable — everything a good trout bait should be.
The pink body gives trout something they can find quickly. It has enough color to stand out , but still small enough that fish can eat it easily. The gold head adds just a touch of flash and warmth without making the whole bait too aggressive.

That balance is why so many anglers have confidence in it.

You can fish this combination under a float through moving water. You can twitch it slowly in a pool. You can let it fall beside a seam, or drift it through a riffle. It is one of those setups that works for beginners because it is easy to fish, but experienced anglers still reach for it because it flat-out produces.

When you are not sure what to start with, gold and pink is always a good option.

We are thankful every time we see another trout caught on this classic color combination. Anglers have trusted it for decades, and that means more to us than we can say.

How to get free flies... Fishing in trophy areas can be a blast, but you may encounter things like this.

Lane catching trout this morning on the Trout Magnet Cross. We use the Cross when the water is still up from generation or when it is slightly off color from recent rains. Thankfully we had both this morning on the Little Red!

In our trout travels, we found ourselves reeling one of these in... It was a special treat to see one in person, but even more special to release it unharmed.

They get a lot bigger, but even encountering one was a memory we won't soon forget. Have you marked this species off the bucket list?

We don't talk about these very much but for many anglers, they have this tied on for their first cast. Catching trout on cranks is a blast and can be a great way to target larger, more agressive trout.

You get 3 casts in this stretch of water. That is it.

Which technique are you using, and where are you putting each cast — A, B, or C?

This is the kind of trout water that makes you think before you throw. Every cast needs a purpose.

You only get 3 casts.

You can choose from:
Trout Magnet under a float, Trout Magnet twitching, D2 Jig, Trout Crank, or Trout Magnet Spin.

How are you spending them?

Would you make all three casts with one technique, or would you change it up?
Drop your 3-cast plan in the comments. We want to hear how you would fish it.
