Lakewood Yacht Club Jr. Sailing Team Center for LYC Seahorse Jr Sailing Lakewood Yacht Club offers a unique Youth Sailing Program, with a wide variety of opportunities for children of all ages.

Achieving prominence as one of the top yacht club programs in the United States, our youth sailors (the Seahorses) participate in the Texas Sailing Association Series as well as National and International Regattas worldwide. With programs that offer year-round fun for members and guests alike, with our summer sailing camps, Learn-to Sail and Advanced Racing classes there is something for every young aspiring sailor at Lakewood Yacht Club.

Incredible moments are happening and being etched into the memories of everyone at this 2026 Lakewood Opti Camp. It's been enriching for us, the boys and girls and families who can witness the sparkle in our children's eyes with such an experience.

ILCA US NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
The US ILCA National Championship, hosted by Corpus Christi Yacht Club on May 22–24, 2026, has officially concluded, and our Lakewood Yacht Club sailors represented our club with tremendous pride and success throughout the event.

The regatta was sailed in extremely challenging conditions, with sailors at times returning to shore due to severe weather before heading back out to continue racing. Despite the demanding conditions, the championship was successfully completed with 8 races in the ILCA 7 fleet and 7 races in both the ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 fleets.

Our sailors delivered outstanding performances:

• In the ILCA 4 class, Milou van Kuilenburg finished 4th overall and became the Girls’ US Champion.
• In the ILCA 6 class, Sydney Small became the Girls’ Vice National Champion of the United States with an outstanding 2nd-place finish.
• In the ILCA 7 class, Zach Brown claimed the title of US Vice National Champion with an impressive 2nd-place overall finish.

Beyond these excellent results, every member of our team made us proud through their determination, hard work, and dedication during both the training sessions leading up to the regatta and throughout the competition itself.

Whether they stood on the podium or not, we congratulate all of our sailors for representing Lakewood Yacht Club in the best possible way and for giving us great confidence and excitement for the future.

The future is bright for Lakewood Yacht Club sailing!

Between the wind, the sea, and every lesson learned on board, childhood builds something time can never take away: memories. ⛵✨

Sailing teaches far more than technique or competition. It teaches balance, responsibility, friendship, respect for nature, confidence, and the courage to face new challenges. When a child grows up with family support and experiences sport in a healthy way, they build strong bonds, grow emotionally, and learn how to navigate life itself. ❤️

Maybe in the future they won’t remember every race or result… but they will never forget the feeling of the wind on their face, the training days, the friendships created at the yacht club, the encouragement from their parents by the water, and the joy of living such intense and meaningful moments.

Because experiences like these stay anchored in our memories forever. 🌊⛵💛
