Lakewood Yacht Club Jr. Sailing Team Center for LYC Seahorse Jr Sailing Lakewood Yacht Club offers a unique Youth Sailing Program, with a wide variety of opportunities for children of all ages.

Achieving prominence as one of the top yacht club programs in the United States, our youth sailors (the Seahorses) participate in the Texas Sailing Association Series as well as National and International Regattas worldwide. With programs that offer year-round fun for members and guests alike, with our summer sailing camps, Learn-to Sail and Advanced Racing classes there is something for every young aspiring sailor at Lakewood Yacht Club.

SYDNEY SMALL (USA)

Small by name, maybe, but big by her recent results. Well on the way to an ILCA campaign for 2032, Small topped out the US Junior Women’s Singlehanded Championships which were raced in 15-20kt breezes in Corpus Christi, Texas. Interestingly for a junior event like this, no private coaching was permitted, all competitors instead benefiting from shared access to two US Sailing coaches who were provided for both a pre-race clinic as well as the regatta itself

In sailing, the wind does not choose who is ready. It simply comes. And that is when determination, resilience, hard work, and team spirit truly show.

Every training session, every regatta, every rough sea, and every result achieved carries much more than technique. It carries friendship, discipline, overcoming challenges, fun, and experiences that stay with us for a lifetime.

Here, we learn to win together, to fall and rise again, to respect the sea, trust the team, and understand that the best results are built with dedication, courage, and passion.

And in the end, all of this becomes something even greater: family. 💙

Casey Small Wins U19 Bronze Medal at the 2026 Nacra 15 World Championship

Lakewood Yacht Club sailor Casey Small, sailing with skipper Dylan Tomko (USA), delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Nacra 15 World Championship in Plymouth, United Kingdom, earning the U19 Bronze Medalas the 3rd-ranked U19 team in the world.

The championship brought together 58 of the world's top teams over 19 races, making it one of the most competitive youth multihull events on the international sailing calendar. Casey and Dylan demonstrated remarkable consistency throughout the week, finishing an impressive 4th Overall while securing their place on the U19 World Championship podium.

Their regatta included several outstanding race finishes, highlighted by two race victories on the final day and multiple top-five finishes despite overcoming two Black Flag Disqualifications earlier in the series. Their resilience and ability to rebound under pressure showcased the team's determination and championship-caliber performance.

This result places Casey Small among the world's elite youth multihull sailors. Competing against the best sailors from around the globe, Casey's performance reflects the dedication, hard work, and commitment required to succeed at the highest level of youth sailing.

Congratulations to Casey Small and Dylan Tomko on an exceptional World Championship and on proudly representing Team USA and Lakewood Yacht Club on the international stage.

This year’s US Junior Women’s Singlehanded Championship for the Leiter Trophy brought together 16 talented young sailors for an unforgettable week of learning, growth, and connection

👯‍♀️ Hosted by Corpus Christi Yacht Club, the event paired two days of clinic with coaching from US Sailing pros with two days of racing in the challenging Corpus breeze, giving sailors the opportunity to build confidence, sharpen their skills, and learn alongside peers from across the country.

Beyond the time on the water, the championship fostered friendships and created lasting memories in a supportive, all-female environment.

Reese represented Lakewood at the JSA Powder Puff Regatta at Riverside Yacht Club in Connecticut, earning 2nd place in the White Fleet. She followed it up by sailing another regatta this weekend, and this time she took 1st place in the White Fleet, finishing ahead of 22 boats! 🥇
