This is Mary.
First of all… thank you to everyone who has been checking in, giving words of encouragement, and especially those who have been praying for Gary and our family.
To give an update on Gary or maybe to inform those that don’t know.…
Gary was injured in a work related accident Friday morning while working on the table saw. He was flown to Augusta to attempt to reattach 2 fingers on his left hand. The surgeon was not able to reattach his ring finger because it was too badly damaged. He was able to reattach his middle finger but the only thing keeping it alive is the skin (and God). There were no tendons, muscles, or blood vessels to connect. The surgeon prescribed 10 treatments (dives) in the hyperbaric chamber to increase the chances of vitality for that finger. He has already had 2 dives. He just got tubes in his ears to regulate the pressure during and after the dives. He is ready for dive #3 today. He has been cleared by the surgeon to be moved out of ICU when there is a room available in the general medical ward.
Please pray that this is a private room and I will be allowed to stay over night with him. We have found it to be better for everyone if it’s that way. I will update here as often as I can. For my real time updates, Kristina has been and will be posting to her Facebook and instagram stories.
Again, THANK YOU for the tremendous support we have felt since Friday. With it still being a day-by-day decision making process, we are unsure of how long we will be staying here in Augusta. Every prayer and word of encouragement makes it that much easier for Gary, Kristina, myself, our family back home, doctors, nurses, and anyone else we meet along with way.
