ABOUT THE PROFESSOR LEANDRO
Leandro was born 7th March of 1980 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He joined Brazilian Fight Jiu-Jitsu School when he was 15 years old. He was a medalist in many regional and national BJJ championships in Brazil throughout his journey from whitebelt to blackbelt. Adding to his 22 years of experience in Jiu-Jitsu martial art, Leandro is currently working as a referee for the
IBJJF and for other jiu-jitsu federations throughout the United States. Leandro is a second degree blackbelt certified by IBJJF. Leandro's professional experience and unique approach will provide the traction necessary for athletes to hit the ground running. He personally work with each student to help them achieve their individual goals. He pushes but he also motivates. Early on, he identifies what each client is capable of with the goal being to help them reach, then exceed, that potential. Team founded in 1993 by Osiris Maia, Amaury Bitetti and Carlson Gracie Jr. (members of the Carlson Gracie Team) direct disciples of Grand Master Carlson Gracie. Brazilian Fight Jiu-Jitsu has 5 branches in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and 1 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Senior Champ Osiris Maia (Leandro's Master and headmaster of the Brazilian Fight Team in Brazil) is a 6th Degree Jiu-Jitsu Blackbelt. One of the late Grandmaster Carlson Gracie’s 109 black belts. Practically all of his 132 Jiu-Jitsu medals came in the master division. He participated in the inaugural International in 1999 and won. He's the President of the Jiu-Jitsu League of Rio de Janeiro and a Muay Thai Kru Master formed by Narany at Naja Academy. He is the director of the CBMMA (Brazilian Confederation of Mixed Martial Arts) and official referee of the UFC (Ultimate Fight Championship).
