CPL Class

The Fin & Feather Club will be holding a CPL Class September 4 & 5, 2026. The class on September 4th, will be from 6 to 9 PM and all day on September 5th. The cost is $50 for club members and $100 for non club members. Contact Jim Glover at 231 907-8330 to register. You must be registered in order to take the class.

Our 3D archery course is ready to go. The course has been mowed, and lanes have been cleared. It took one of our members 4 days to do this, and he says not one tick!. Come and try the course out! Thank you, Doug Rollenhagen, for all your work.

Last week at our membership meeting, we honored our scholarship recipients. Every year, the Fin & Feather Club awards a $1500 scholarship to a student who will be majoring in the outdoor sciences. This year, the committee awarded two scholarships of $1500. The scholarship can be awarded to a student more than once as long as their major remains in the outdoor sciences.

The first scholarship went to Alaina White. This is the second year that the award has been awarded to Alaina. Alaina is majoring at Grand Valley University in Natural Resources and Environmental Management, with a minor in Biology, and she is pursuing two professional certificates in Ecological Restoration and Applied Geographic Information Systems. Her goal is to become fully knowledgeable in her field and strategically pursue a career as an environmental consultant.

The second scholarship was awarded to Madalyn Wayward. Madalyn will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She plans on studying fisheries and aquatic sciences and working with the DNR or a private business as a Fisheries Biologist in the field.

The Fin & Feather Club is proud to be a part of their education. The best of luck to both girls.

Due to some confusion about registering for our Hunter's Ed class, here is some clarification.

Since the DNR has designated the week of August 10 thru August 16 as Statewide Hunter Safety week, the Fin & Feather’s Hunter Safety Class will not be posted on the DNR website until July 1st.

After July 1st you can go to the DNR Hunter Safety website and sign up your child, grandchild, friend, etc.

Here are a few reminders for the rifle and pistol ranges

Please be aware that when placing targets on the backstops at all rifle and pistol ranges, NO TARGETS are to be placed on any of the wood cross boards, posts, or target frames. Make sure your target is centered on the backstop, and your bullets stay on the backstop and target.

DO NOT Move Falling Plate Racks or Steel Target hangers on the pistol bay ranges. They are placed where they are for various reasons and competitions. Check with the range manager if you would like to see them placed differently. DO NOT take it upon yourself to move them. You may move target frames on the pistol range, provided they are not positioned for classes or shoots.

Please use the 25/50 yard range when trying to get your fi****ms on the target. DO NOT do this on the 100-yard range. It causes too much damage to the cross boards and posts.

RANGE CLOSURE: If there is a CLOSED SIGN POSTED, DO NOT USE THE RANGE. We try to minimize our range closures. At times, it becomes necessary to close them for maintenance, safety reasons, or to set up competitions. We do try to post dates and times when we know they will be closed. Sometimes, circumstances don’t allow this. Please respect the Closed Signs.

We try to maintain and keep our ranges in good shape. Volunteers are the ones taking care of these. Abuse of them causes added expenses and someone’s time to repair them. Please take care, respect these ranges, and use them properly.
