The Sunset Series at James River Runners

Last year we started hosting acoustic musicians for our campers, and it quickly became one of our favorite parts of summer.

This year, we're opening it up to the community and inviting everyone to join us on the banks of the James River for The Sunset Series.

Each Saturday evening, a different artist or band will take the stage from 7:30–9:30 PM, creating the perfect soundtrack for a summer night by the river.

Bring a blanket, lawn chair, and your favorite picnic snacks. Gather with friends and family, relax under the trees, and enjoy live music in one of the most beautiful spots in Central Virginia.

The 2025 River Season Has Come to a Close

Thank you to everyone who helped make this season so special! We had an amazing time out on the river with all of you. While the early summer brought us a bit of extra rain, the season as a whole was a wonderful success.

As James River Runners heads into the offseason, we do so with a smile on our faces and gratitude in our hearts. We’ll be working behind the scenes to keep improving the experiences we share with you—whether it’s tubing, kayaking, canoeing, camping, or concerts. It is an honor for us to help you get the most out of the mighty James!

There are a couple of really cool things happening this coming Saturday in Scottsville.

1. Scottsville Center for Art & Nature(SCAN) is putting on their second Nurture with Nature.
2. The INAGURAL James River Regatta https://paddleguru.com/races/JamesRiverRegatta

James River Runners will be hosting an awards celebration and concert for the participants at our campgrounds on Saturday after the festivities.
