Spring is here and we are officially opening for business beginning Thursday, April 2nd!

At this time we are doing KAYAK & CANOE rentals for LAKE floats by reservation ONLY.

All reservations must be made a minimum of 24-48hrs in advance.

We do not operate on Saturdays.
Sunday - Friday ONLY

Kayak = $30/per half day (up to 4hrs)
Kayaks = $50/per full day (up to 8hrs)
Tandem Kayaks = $30/per half day (up to 4hrs)
Tandem Kayaks = $50/per full day (up to 8hrs)
Canoe = $40/per half day (up to 4hrs)
Canoe = $60/per full day (up to 8hrs)

Group rates available (5+ kayaks required)

Life jackets are included with kayak & canoe rentals.

Drop in location: Port Oliver Boat Ramp, Scottsville KY.

Delivery to other locations possible however a minimum of $10 fuel surcharge will be added to reservation total.

River shuttling is unavailable at this time. If you want to float the river you must have a vehicle capable of transporting kayaks. A minimum of 2 vehicles is recommended for river floats.

No motorized equipment available at this time. (Pontoon, Jetskis, etc).

Temporary Suspension of Operations Due to April 2025 Flooding

Unfortunately, due to ongoing extreme flooding, we are currently unable to operate as usual. This includes all Barren River Lake activities and river floats.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has not yet provided an estimated timeline for when our side of the lake will reopen. Elevated water levels and significant debris have created hazardous conditions that make it unsafe to proceed with normal operations at this time.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our guests and staff.

As the recreation season approaches, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District is providing an update regarding USACE-managed recreation areas in the Green River Area (including Nolin River, Rough River, Barren River, and Green River lakes) as it pertains to the recent high-water event.

Due to elevated water levels resulting from recent flooding, several of our recreation areas remain closed. While our teams are actively working on cleanup and recovery efforts, safety assessments are still ongoing to determine the condition of each site.

We have had quite a few questions about our water surface acreage at Winter Pool, Summer Pool, and our current Record Pool of 586'. So, one of our Rangers put together a comparison map to visualize these Pool elevations for you. Please be careful if you choose to be on or near the water and remember, Life Jackets Worn...Nobody Mourns.

📢Barren River Lake in Glasgow, Kentucky, has set a record high pool as of today, April 7, 2025. As of 6:00 a.m., Barren River Lake was at 583.6 feet MSL (mean sea level) and utilizing 81 percent of flood storage, and still rising. The previous record was set 36 years ago in March 1989 when the pool reached 583 feet MSL.

Current forecasts estimate that Barren River Lake could reach between 586-587 MSL. For context, normal Summer Pool at Barren River Lake is 552 MSL and the Spillway Crest is 590 MSL. We do not anticipate spillway flow.

The dam is operating as intended and there are no dam safety concerns.
