great story - SO U WANT TO BE A REALTOR ?
Your agent remembers the first time you called. You were excited. Nervous. Ready to start looking.
They cleared their calendar, asked about your dream home, learned what mattered to your family.
They listened.
They showed you houses on weekends while their own kids were at birthday parties.
They showed you houses after work when they were exhausted.
They showed you houses that weren't quite right but got you closer to understanding what you actually wanted.
They researched neighborhoods you'd never heard of.
Sent you listings before they hit the market.
Called you when something perfect popped up.
Arranged showings around your work schedule.
Always accommodating. Always available.
They strategized.
They fought.
They negotiated like it was their own family's future on the line.
Late nights reviewing contracts.
Early mornings coordinating inspections. Lunch breaks spent on hold with lenders.
They stressed with you through every step.
They reassured you when you got cold feet.
They reminded you why you loved this house in the first place.
And then somewhere near the end, you mentioned you were "thinking about using someone else."
Maybe it was someone cheaper.
Maybe it was someone you knew.
Maybe you just didn't think it mattered at this point since "all the hard work was done."
Your agent said they understood. Because what else could they say?
They'd invested months of their life into your dream. And now they'd watch someone else walk you to the finish line and collect the paycheck for work they didn't do.
They went home that night and sat in their car for a minute before going inside.
Not angry. Just tired.
Tired of explaining their value.
Tired of proving their worth.
They'll move on.
They always do.
They'll help the next family.
Give them everything they gave you.
Hope it turns out differently.
And you'll never know how much that hurt. Because they smiled and wished you well anyway.
