Strong today. Independent tomorrow.

Shiva was showing us how it’s done with overhead pulls, one of our favorite exercises for building strength in the upper back, shoulders, and arms.

Why does that matter?

As we get older, everyday tasks can start to feel a little more challenging. Reaching for something on the top shelf, putting luggage in an overhead compartment, carrying groceries, or lifting objects around the house all require strength and stability.

The good news? Strength is trainable at any age.

One of the best ways to maintain muscle mass, support bone density, and stay independent is through regular strength training. Whether you’re lifting 2 pounds, 20 pounds, or even more, the goal is the same: build a stronger body that supports you in everyday life.

Looking for a healthy lunch that’s packed with protein, fiber, and flavor? This Chickpea “Egg” Salad Wrap might become one of your new favorites.

At Core Fitness AZ, we know that staying healthy and losing weight isn’t just about what happens in the gym—it’s also about making smart, sustainable choices in the kitchen. This simple recipe is loaded with nutrients, helps keep you feeling full, and is a great option for a quick lunch or light dinner.

An added bonus? Chickpeas are rich in vitamin B6, which plays a role in helping your body manage stress. That’s a win for both your physical and mental well-being.

Chickpea “Egg” Salad Wraps
Serves 4

Ingredients:
• 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
• 1 ripe avocado, peeled and cubed
• ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
• 2 Tbsp chives, chopped
• Juice of 1 lime
• Sea salt and pepper to taste
• 4 lettuce wraps or tortillas
• Lettuce or spinach (if using tortillas)
• Optional: olive oil mayonnaise

Directions:
Place the chickpeas in a bowl and mash with a fork or potato masher. Add the avocado and continue mashing until combined. Stir in the cilantro, chives, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Divide evenly among the wraps, add lettuce or spinach if desired, roll up, and enjoy.

Shiva is getting after it with some mountain climbers today, working those obliques, getting the heart rate up, and building the strength and endurance that help keep us feeling our best as we age.
