WHY DO DRIVERS RECKLESSLY SPEED UP EVEN WITH A SPEED LIMIT

Most people assume speeding is primarily just the result of driver irresponsibility.

The truth is: IT IS ALSO PRODUCT OF THE ROAD’S DESIGN.

Research across the globe shows that:

✅ People will pay far more attention to the road and its conditions than to speed signs, with sufficient road width and flexibility facilitating increased speed.

✅ Even the most modernly engineered streets will incite road/engineering principles that promote speed, with enough road width and flexibility facilitating increased speed.

✅ People will continuously surpass the speed regulations regardless of the posted limits, but, instead, controlled road conditions, including but not limited to, adequate road width, road flexibility, and sufficient curvature will reduce the speed at which vehicles travel.

✅ The most simple applications in road planning, including but not limited to road width control, road curvature, and flexible road control, will result in significant decreases in speed.

WHEN THE STREET IS REDESIGNED, SPEED LIMITS WILL FOLLOW.

Two real pretty a couple decades apart. We sold the USPS bike new way back in the Lance Armstrong era. We just recently built up this Trek Segafredo Team Emonda and thought it’d be cool to get these two together for a meetup of different eras.
