Letโs get into some Back Tumbling Mechanics!
Learning to accelerate back tumbling largely comes from a good round-off coupled with excellent body tension (the ability to tightly bound). However to stretch the BHS, that will entirely depend on the exiting position of the RO INTO the BHS (remember, everything is cause & effect, Newtonโs 3rd Law of action and reaction!๐ค). Letโs talk about it:
๐นThe Late Whip - Here we have some of clips of Bella & Kam demonstrating some stretching and late-whip mechanics. We all know that we want the feet in front on the RO to make us bound backward. But what might be as equally as important is the โarm-to-headโ position exiting the RO. Encouraging the arms stay low with the head more neutral allows the BHS to carry backward and โsnapโ quicker. On these drills, they are forced to keep their arms & heads inward/low to achieve the desired length and โsnap-reactionโ on the backside of the drill (cause & effect!). If they try to prematurely BHS, the rhythm and timing will feel off. We donโt want the arms rising high out of the RO bc that would take away the body-snap as well as the BHSโs length.
Trust and believe, this is still a concept we STILL work to achieve and perfect, but as you can see by FLโs in the last slide, the implementation/result of this technique provides the optimal kinetic energy for aggressive tumbling in later years๐ช๐ฝ
Drill it, Drill it, Drill it!
Happy Tumbling yโall! ๐คธ
