“It’s okay if someone says no, because a lot of times a no is maybe a no, not right now.”

If you contact 10 people, maybe 6 connect, you meet 4, and 2 or 3 work with you. Those are 2 or 3 people who weren’t in your network before.

That excuse you cling to used to keep you safe.

Maybe it had a name.
Maybe it felt like who you are.
"I don't do this because of this."

But underneath it, you actually want to do the thing.
Start the business.
Do the project.
Launch something creative.

Acknowledge it.
Thank it for getting you this far.
And start moving past it.

Little by little, step by step.
Not instant, but real.

Right after the first time I ever left the country, my brother wanted to go to Nepal.

I asked him why.
He said, “It’s so different. Think about how much you can learn, how much you can see the world differently.”

It really changed me. Now I do things afraid, on purpose.

I really love learning about people. And sometimes people ask, “Do you really care?” Actually, I do. I’m not just trying to be nice.

Here’s what my software sales background taught me.

It was all relationships.
A customer told us about a problem no one was helping with, and we ended up creating a whole on-demand service from it.

There’s so much pressure in sales.
But when you take the pressure out and ask what’s keeping people up at night, you can actually help.
And if you can’t, be honest about that too.

I'm on a quest of doing things that moderately scare me, and here's what I learned after doing them.
I wasn't afraid of the things.
I was afraid of the judgment of people seeing me do them.
That's a lot of brain space spent on people who aren't the ones doing it.

They're quiet.
Ordinary.
Easy to walk right past.

Then one day you notice something shifted.
The weight lifted off your shoulders and you didn't even see it happen.
