Finally I’d like to introduce Marc. He’s currently a brown belt and has been training 22 years. He is an Army Ranger veteran and currently works as a local law enforcement officer. He is a certified Physical Tactics instructor for Indiana and is an instructor for the local agencies.

Marc is an active competitor so he has a great understanding of not only grappling as it pertains to self defense and use on the streets, but also as a sport. I’m excited to have him at the academy, he has a lot to offer our students.

He will run our combatives program and classes and you’ll find him in the mats in our late morning sessions.

I would like you to meet Lisa, another instructor for our academy. She started training back in 2012 and earned her black belt in 2022. Her and I were training partners since day 1. We were many times the only females on the mats, and I believed it forged us into the grapplers we are today. Over the years Lisa has obtained multiple Pan American and Master World titles in the gi. One of the many things I think stand out the most is how well she builds up beginners and teaches fundamentals. Her patience and dedication to the sport over the years really shows.

She too is a woman of science and has a background in Metallurgy. It brought her to NWI working at the steel mill. For the past 15 years, she worked in the Steel Making department. Currently, she is the Section Manager of Secondary Metallurgy- making the chemistry.

My name is Adrienne Seip and I would like to introduce myself as head instructor/owner of Apex Labs. I’ve been training since 2012 under the Carlson Gracie Team and earned my black belt back in 2021. I signed up for competition early on and fell in love with the sport and competition. I accrued multiple Pan American and Master World titles in both gi and no gi. Durning that time I also found my passion for teaching. Watching my students build confidence and skill, whether a competitor or hobbyist, motivates me to be better.

In addition to jiu jitsu, I’ve competed in a handful of judo competitions and attribute most of my takedown game to that.

I also boxed a few years and won Chicago Golden Gloves tournament 2 years and made it to the National team in 2022.

And if you’re wondering, why Apex Labs? I’m a chemist by trade and I think jiu jitsu is a science too where we experiment, modify, test and apply our techniques.
