Iroquois Rod & Gun Club

Iroquois Rod & Gun Club Established in 1924. Iroquois promotes safe participation in fi****ms, archery and related sporting activities. The club is for use by members and member guests.

The Iroquois Rod & Gun Club and its members have been safely promoting the love of the outdoors in the Capital Region, through pistol, rifle and shotgun marksmanship training and activities, including trap, s***t, and archery, since 1924. The club was originally organized under the name "Mohawk Gun Club" in the Fall of 1924, however, another club in the area was also using that name, so the club n

ame was redesignated as the "Iroquois Rod and Gun Club" in 1925. 2014 celebrates our 90th anniversary as an active organization in the community. The Club has acres of property which includes a clubhouse, a pavilion, indoor pistol range, outdoor small bore ranges, trap and s***t facilities, with warming hut, archery target field and course, and a 100 yard rifle range. It is not a public range open to the general public for use without an invitation. Membership is open to any law abiding person of good character, and we are currently accepting new membership applications. Classes of membership:
Regular - adults aged 19-70
Junior - children 12-18
Senior - members over age 70
Life - members who's total of age and years of membership is 80 or more
and who have at least five years of membership. Dues:

Military on active duty - waived

Initiation fee:
$50 adult, waived for juniors. May be waived by membership for former members in good standing. Becoming a member:
A prospective member must submit an application (see official club website for application download), signed by a current member, and accompanied by the initiation fee. The application shall be read at a general membership meeting, and shall lie on the table until the next general membership meeting (at least one month), at which the applicant name shall be read again and a vote taken on acceptance. The prospective member must be present at one of these meetings, preferably both. Membership application arrangements may be made for exceptional cases, such as prospective members who don't know a member of the club. Range Rules

General rules – all ranges
All fi****ms must be unloaded except when actually on the firing line or position. This is known as a cold range policy. All fi****ms must be kept pointed in a safe direction at all times. Handle all fi****ms as if loaded. Be safe: eye and ear protection required on all firearm ranges, including on-range spectators (indoor range). Orders of a range officer must be obeyed – they are not open for debate. Hours of use: Regardless of normal hours of use of the facility, do not shoot on any range unless you can clearly see the background as well as the target. Dawn and Dusk are the ends of safe shooting light outdoors. Sign-in: Everyone shooting must sign in with their name, firearm type or archery range, and any other requested information, except unless participating in any scheduled practice or competition, where participants sign a score sheet maintained by the range officer. Special rules may be posted at the range, read and obey them. Indoor Range
Be safe: Eye and ear protection required for shooters and on-range spectators or officials; no fast draw; no rapid fire. No one without a pistol permit may handle or fire any handgun. If you hit the ceiling or anything (such as wood framing) outside the target area, leave a note on the board in the clubhouse, so any needed repairs can be made. No jacketed bullets, no rifles other than 22 rimfire (not magnum). No broadhead arrows on the indoor range. Archery targets, bales, and other targets are not to be used with fi****ms. Turn off all fans and lights when you leave. Available at all times, however, please see the calendar for scheduled activities. Outdoor firearm ranges – other than clay bird
Be safe: if multiple ranges are in use, all ranges should be in a “clear” condition before going down range to change targets. That includes trap and s***t. The handgun outdoor range is closed, a new range is being designed. All rifles and shotguns with slugs must be fired through the blockhouse. Use the target frames provided, attach your target so you don't shoot up the frame, and put them away when done. Paper targets only unless approved by the Chief Range Officer. The smallbore range (under the baffles) is for smallbore 22 only! Available 8am to dusk, see “hours of use” above. Trap and S***t
Shotgun only, shot no larger than 7-1/2, no loads other than shot (like slugs or tracers). Trap and S***t equipment may be operated only by those trained to use it safely and correctly, and approved to do so by the Chief Range Officer or board. Available 8am to 10pm, lights must be on at dusk to assure safe operation. Turn them off when done! Archery
Use broadhead arrows on bales and paper targets, not the expensive mesh targets! Available dawn to dusk.
