Wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year and thank all of my clients and friends for a great year! 🥳🏋️🙌

2023 was my favorite year as a person trainer yet with doing 2,097 personal training sessions at Foley’s Fitness this past year. I was able to meet some amazing people and made a ton of memories! I am so thankful for each and every person that I have worked with and am grateful for the Foley’s Fitness community.

Mike has been training with me weekly for the last 2 and a half years and has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Mike executes his workout program every single week perfectly, brings a positive attitude, pays attention to detail, and always gives 100% effort no matter how he is feeling that day.

Mike recently competed in the NPC New England Championships and with great coaching with he got 1st place in the Bantamweight class! 👏

Feeling plateaued with your strength training and can’t increase the weight on certain movements?

Here are some ways to switch up your regular routine and see some results without increasing the weight! ⬇️

✅ Rest Pause Sets: breaking down one set into several mini sets, with minimal rest in between each. Perform a set, set the weight down, rest for about 15 seconds, and repeated to failure again

✅ Supersets: Perform two exercises back-to-back with no rest in between. These exercises can target the same muscle group or different muscle groups.

✅ Slower Tempo: focus on the eccentric (lengthening) phase of each rep. Focus on slow, controlled repetitions rather than trying to bust out as many reps as you can for an exercise. Adding in pause reps are another way to achieve this!

✅ Rest Periods: if you typically rest 1-2 minutes in between each set, shorten it to 30 seconds to work on your muscular endurance. Or, take a longer rest period to see if you can increase the weight or get a couple of extra rest 🔥

✅ Change up the exercise variation: If you usually only do flat bench press and never incline press, mix it up and try incline bench! If you always use dumbbells rather than resistance cables or bands, add in some cables/bands and that could be another way to mix up your routine 👌🏼
