School can be a lot for kids.

Sitting still, paying attention, figuring out friendships, dealing with frustration, trying things they might not be good at yet.

Then they come in here and get to move, wrestle around, laugh, struggle with something, and try it again.

Sometimes I think kids just need a place where it’s okay to not get everything right the first time.

I know a lot of parents are just trying to find something that fits their kid.

Not every kid connects with the usual sports.

Some just need a place where they can build confidence without feeling like they have to be the best one there right away.

That’s a big part of why I love Jiu Jitsu

They get to learn how to work with another person, stay calm, solve problems, and keep going when something doesn’t come easy the first time.

And for a lot of kids, that matters more than just “getting exercise.”

They don’t need to be the toughest kid.

They don’t need experience.

They just need a good place to start.

Some fathers and sons lift weights, fish or play golf together.

These two decided to try something a little different. 🥋

They walked into Empower at the same time, both brand new to Jiu Jitsu, looking for something they could learn and do together.

Now they get to train together, learn together, give each other a hard time…and occasionally try to choke each other. 😂

This is one of my favorite things about Empower. Families training together

It doesn't really matter if you're 18, 28, 38 or 50. You can step onto the mat together, start at the same place and share an experience that's completely different from just another workout.

Pretty cool way to spend some time with your dad or your son.
