June’s Swerve Spotlight shines on Bev! She’s been with the studio even before we got started and has completed 637 training sessions with Josh! Here’s Bev’s story…
How did you hear about Swerve?
Bev: I had trained with Josh at a previous location & when he & Jaryd opened Swerve, I followed.
What are your workouts at Swerve like?
Bev: My workouts are always different. I never know if it’s going to be mostly cardio, weights or a combination. We work on weight training to help minimize the osteoporosis that is in my family & keep me strong. We work on my balance so that I won’t fall as I age. And the cardio….well, I guess he just likes to torture me with that! 😈
What’s it like working with Josh?
Bev: It’s been great for all these years. He always takes into account what my needs are when determining my workouts. He always checks in with me on my goals and if any adjustments need to be made to workouts in regards to injuries. If I need to reschedule a workout, he always tries to get it rescheduled quickly and works to accommodate my schedule.
What makes Swerve different than other studios/gyms/trainers you’ve been to?
Bev: I like the fact that Swerve is a small studio. There is no intimidation with a lot of other people working out right beside me & needing the weights or equipment that I am using. During the time that I have reserved, the equipment is just for me!
What’s your favorite thing about Swerve?
Bev: I know that both Josh & Jaryd care about all of their clients, including our families. We (Josh, Jaryd & clients) share stories & photos frequently at our workouts. We have watched each other’s kids & grandkids as they grow up. It’s like an extended family.
What’s your story? What brought you to Swerve?
Bev: Initially, I started to train for weight loss. That was 25 years ago. After losing the weight, I continued because I really enjoy the workouts & training helps me maintain the weight loss. As a woman, having the strength training gives me a sense of empowerment.
What are your goals with your workouts? What do you train for?
Bev: As I age, I want to be a healthy older woman. If I’m lucky enough to live a long life, I want to be able to remain very active. Now that I’m retired, I want to be able to do many of the things I’ve always done, within reason! I also want to be able to be able to enjoy & be active with our grandchildren, who are 6 & 3. They require a lot of energy, and so far, I think the training has me prepared for that!
What exercise do you loath?
Bev: The “Wheel of Death” ….aka the Ab Roller.
What exercise do you love?
Bev: I really enjoy boxing & the free weights. I like to be able to see the increase in the amount of weight or reps I can accomplish.
From the Trainer:
Bev is a very consistent client and very rarely ever misses a workout. She works hard and is willing to try new challenges and exercises. She also has a great personality and that makes it easy to work with her. She’s had to overcome some serious injuries from a previous car accident but she never complains. She just takes it in stride and we push her where we can and back off certain things if old injuries flare up. She seriously questions my ability to count to 10, but besides that I feel like she trusts me and knows I’m working to get her in her best shape!
