Another fine day of Salmon fishing !!
Still getting used to fishing from the Cal Dawn 1. We’re making some minor tweaks to the rod positioning for Salmon trolling as the boat has primarily been used for drifting in the past - (Rockfish & Lingcod, Stripers, Halibut…). Getting it dialed in though. Today we had 18 Salmon for the day.
We ended up fishing right next to the New Cal Dawn & the Cal Dawn 2… creating a Cal Dawn Triangle at one point. Deck Boss Jonathan was up in the wheelhouse and noticed that the Halibut marking on the fish finder looked scared…. 😂🤣

PSA - The Cal Dawn 1 is back in the Bay Area and she is a fishy boat. Due to some mechanical issues with the Salty Lady, we will be running our trips on the ORIGINAL California Dawn. Same Salty Lady location in Sausalito, same Salty Lady Captain & crew….
Sorry if I missed posting for a minute… needless to say we’ve been just a bit busy these last couple of days making this happen but today was our 1st day with the boat, and we definitely started off this phase with a bang. LIMITS OF HAWGS for our regular private charter from Napa !!!

Steve placed the high bid on my donated charter for our Golden Gate Fisherman's Association fundraising dinner/auction/raffle…. a very generous bid indeed. Big fish, but a bit of a surprise after the great fishing yesterday. Apparently every day really IS different. South wind & rain this morning (when it blows south fish close their mouth) but it certainly got very nice in the afternoon… who knows what makes these Salmon tick, but we had to work hard for every one of ‘em today. And tomorrow will be yet another venture into the unknown… we’ll see what tomorrow brings. 😎🐟🎣

The “fall” season opened back up today and Salmon fishing doesn’t get much better. Definitely got limited availability here, but if you can strike when the iron is hot…. We have spots open tomorrow !!!

After a week off due to meeting the “summer” season quota, the “fall” season Salmon opener today (Sept 1) is starting off with a bang for the fleet. We have a smaller, 20K fish quota for this portion… get out while you can !!
We have some availability as soon as TOMORROW due to some cancellations of reservations that were made way in advance….
