I’ve (Kathryn Hitt) devoted over four decades to the study and practice of horsemanship—a lifelong

passion that began at the age of 15. From those early days, I had the incredible opportunity to work closely with Dave Parlier, a respected professional horse trainer and judge featured in Horse & Rider magazine. Under his guidance, I developed a strong foundation in both the art and science of horsemanship. My journey continued under the mentorship of Dick Kiesner, a true legend in the industry. As the first president of the Professional Arabian Horsemen's Association, a former National Professional Horseman of the Year, and trainer for the St. Paul and Minneapolis Mounted Police, Dick taught me not only advanced training techniques but also the importance of patience, discipline, and partnership with the horse. In addition to my formal training, I’ve immersed myself in natural horsemanship, drawing inspiration from the philosophies of Pat Parelli and John Lyons. Their emphasis on building trust, mutual respect, and clear communication between horse and rider continues to influence my approach today. Over the years, I’ve taught, trained, shown, and bred horses across both English and Western disciplines, in amateur and professional settings alike. In 1995, I had the privilege of serving as a guest judge at the Texas Pony of the Americas Club show—a milestone that reflected the depth of my experience and respect within the community. From 1999 to 2003, I also owned and operated Lone Star Stables, LLC, where I offered full-service boarding, training, and instruction. Horsemanship isn’t just a skillset—it’s a way of life. I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge with others, helping students of all levels become more confident, capable, and compassionate riders. Nothing is more rewarding than witnessing the connection between a horse and rider grow through understanding, trust, and dedication.
