Master Michael Anthony is headed to Korea this week to test for his 9th Degree Black Belt — the highest rank a practitioner can test for. It’s estimated only about 1 in 40,000 taekwondo practitioners in the world will ever reach it. The exam is held in person in Seoul, in front of a panel of the art’s most senior grandmasters.
When Master Anthony moved to Sarasota last year to prepare for this test, we felt honored that he chose to train alongside us.
Sending him off with so much respect and gratitude.

No one walks in kicking like this.

Every kid on this mat started somewhere shaky — unsure, maybe a little scared, not convinced they could do it.

Something I love about our afternoons: it’s not just kicks and punches.

It’s a coach sitting down to read with a couple of our kiddos, working on focus and patience before they even step on the mat.

It’s a full class learning structure and respect together.

It’s friendships being built one afternoon at a time.

We watched her grow up on this mat.

She started with us at 5 years old, quiet, a little shy, always listening more than talking. Belt by belt, year by year, that quiet dedication turned her into a 4th degree black belt. She headed off to college, and life carried her all the way to Colorado… but she stopped by to visit this week, glowing, expecting her first baby.

This is what keeps us going. Taekwondo isn’t just a sport here, it’s family. Once you’re a Red Tiger, you’re always a Red Tiger, no matter how many years or how many miles.

Congratulations to one of our own. We love you, and we can’t wait to meet the newest addition to the family. 🐯.
