The State of Florida estimates nearly 4.7 Million acres of natural habitats will be lost to roads, shopping malls, and housing subdivisions in the next 45 years. Future demands for water will exceed our capacity by 538 million gallons per day. sappear forever. That means over 700 terrestrial animals, more than 200 freshwater fish, more than 1,000 marine fish, Mammals, numerous other aquatic and marine vertebrates, and many thousands of terrestrial insects and other invertebrates, will be in danger of EXTINCTION. Endangered and threatened species in Florida already consist of 133 animal species and over 550 plant species. Animals include the Florida snail kite, the gopher tortoise, and the Florida panther to name a few. These multitudes of species are dependent upon the highly productive natural habitats of Florida. We are racing against time, as wildlands are lost so are the homes for hundreds of species of plants, animals, insects, birds, and turtles. Florida's natural resources are a treasure to be conserved, and must be managed judiciously, not squandered. One focus is ensuring that safeguards are in place to protect and manage the supply and quality of Florida’s water resources. supports the funding for land conservation to protect sensitive natural lands, water resources, and wildlife habitat, as well as offering recreational opportunities to all. To accomplish this goal, it is essential that citizens of all ages and backgrounds understand the importance of, and join in protecting these priceless resources. focuses on water safety, with boating courses, fishing clinics to include catch and release, species identification, and the right tackle to use. We also offer education regarding gun safety, archery, and youth and adult marksmanship.
