We want to give a belated shout out to the Lake Placid Curling Club volunteers, Saranac Lake Rotary, and 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC programming) for sponsoring two learn to curl sessions in March for the students in the Saranac Lake School District.

Curling is truly a sport that can be enjoyed for all ages!

The Lake Placid Curling Club played our last games of the season this past Tuesday night. It was a great finish to our season with both winning teams having to come from behind to win! On Sheet 2, Team Hofschneider (ranked 3rd) played Team Chary (ranked 4th) for third place in the Spring season. Team Hofschneider scored one in the first end, and after a blank second end, scored another 3 to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Team Chary came back in the next end with 𝟱 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 to put them right back in the game. They continued to score and went on to win 8-4 for third place.
On Sheet 3 Team Conner (ranked 1st) and Team Clark (ranked 2nd) played for first and second place. This game started out very close. Team Clark scored the first point, and Team Conner answered with two, then each team scored one, making it 3-2 after four ends with Team Conner ahead by 1. Then Team Clark scored two in each end after that, winning the game by the final score of 10-3. Congratulations to Team Clark! Good curling! 🥌

This was the Lake Placid Curling Club's final week of regular league play. We want to extend a special thank you to Brian, who works at the Civic Center, for taking extra time to put a clock up on the scoreboard complete with our name. 😊
On Sheet 2, Team Sheridan scored two points in the first end, but Team Clark came back with a point in the next three ends. Team Sheridan came back with two points in the fifth end and kept the lead for the rest of the game and won 6-4.
On Sheet 3 there was a very high scoring game, despite one blank end. Team Dixon and Team Hofschneider each scored one point in the first two ends. Then Team Hofschneider scored two in the third end. Team Dixon had a huge fourth end and scored 5 points! Then they scored another three so it was 9-3 after 5 ends. Team Hofschneider scored 3 in the 6th. The final score was 9-6 with Team Dixon winning.
Sheet 4 had Team Chary playing Team Conner. Team Chary actually did well only allowing Team Conner to score one or two points an end. By the fifth end it was 5-1 Conner. Team Chary had a big 8th end scoring four points to cut Team Conner's big lead down. Team Conner won 8-5.
8 members of our club are headed to Rochester, NY this weekend for the Big ShamROC Open Bonspiel. Good luck and Good curling! 🥌☘️

This past Sunday was the 6th week of league play for the Lake Placid Curling Club teams.
On Sheet 2 Team Dixon played Team Conner. After Team Conner scored one in the first end and stole one in the second, Team Dixon scored two points to tie it up. Then Team Conner scored two and stole another one. Team Dixon put one more on the board in the sixth end, but then Team Conner pulled away and won 8-3.
Team Clark played Team Chary on Sheet 3. Team Chary scored two in the first two ends for an early 4-0 lead, but Team Clark came back by ones and twos and after the fifth end they got their first lead 5-4. They kept scoring and had a huge 5 point final end and won the game 13-4.
Sheet 4 saw the closest game of the evening between Team Sheridan and Team Hofschneider. Team Sheridan was ahead 2-0 after scoring one point in the first two ends. Team Hofschneider then scored 3 points for their first lead. And Team Sheridan tied it up 3-3 after four ends. Team Hofschneider scored in the next three ends to make it 7-3. Team Sheridan scored two points in the 8th end but needed four to force a tiebreak. Team Hofschneider won it 7-5.
With their big win Team Clark jumps to second in our League Standings with the same record as Team Hofschneider (now in third) and only one total point separating the two teams!

Please bring clean shoes/boots to change into to wear on the ice and wear comfortable clothes. If you wish to wear a helmet you must bring your own.
We'll provide the brooms, sliders and stabilizers.
