Hawker's Fishing Fun

Hawker's Fishing Fun Now, fishing for fun, and with friends. I have been fishing since I was old enough to hold a fishing pole on my own. I have fished all over the U.S.

and for virtually every species of fish that swim within those waters. For many years I was a tournament angler fishing for Largemouth Bass and starting in the early 80’s discovered live bait fishing for both Stripers and the hard fighting Hybrid Stripers. I began part time guiding for these species in the late 90’s when a group of fishermen from Wisconsin & Minnesota contacted me to guide them an

d have been part time guiding ever since. I retired from my full time job as a Lineman for a large electric utility company in April of 2008 giving me more time to concentrate on providing a full-time quality guide service for people in need or want of one, and NOW, retired from Guiding

I make annual trips to Canada fishing on Lake of the Woods and to the Gulf of Mexico fishing the saltwater in my never ending search for big fish. I am passionate about fishing and I truly love to share that passion in hopes of instilling the excitement of having a hard fighting fish on the end of a line! I love to teach people everything I can about fishing and to be there helping and assisting as a youngster hooks into their first hard fighting Hybrid Striper and lands it, is still one of the most thrilling moments of my day. Overall, a fun week with some "up's", and of course, with some "downs", but overall deserving of two thumbs up.

Monday's trip with Ethan and Lucas won't go on the books as outstanding (catching wise), but certainly won't go on the books as a bust, but I'llsettle for fair. Found lots of fish all day, just not enuff that wanted to feast on our offerings. We had a bit of a stout breeze all day that had the lake churned up pretty good! Late in the trip, just when we finally got on a good bite, the "brains" of the trolling motor took a dump, ending our little frenzy, and of course the trip! Can't begin to thank Ethan and Lucas enough for their patience and understanding! Was still a fun day, had almost a limit to clean, and just plain ole had fun!

Today was a whole nuther story! From the git-go, it was game on with Jake and Jeremy on board amidst a whole bunch of rod bendin, line stretchin, drag screamin, fish catchin "FUN", on and off an on the whole day. Twas a good day to be on the water. Boxed two full limits (overs and unders), couple of Sandass, eight catfish, then caught and released another (what would have been) five limits of overs and unders! Can't complain bout a day like this! Thank you Jake and Jeremy, twas a fun day!

I'll be taking leave of Oklahoma for the next couple three weeks, exploring some new to me territory! I'll post a few pics along the way 😋

Again, thank you Ethan, Lucas, Jake and Jeremy! All ya'll are salt of the earth good people's, and it's an honor to have had each of you aboard.

Another rod bendin, line stretchin, drag screamin, fish catchin, fun filled day doin what I love. Species don't much matter, it's how good they tug and how good they eat! Plenty nuff for "several" meals with this'un and a few of her running mates.

Had a bit of fun helping out my good friend Trent Mcbride, with a Guide trip yesterday. (yeah-yeah I know I retired) Trent had 5 in his boat, I had 4, and the fish (Sandbass) didn't stand a chance 😂

I literally did not have an opportunity to snap pics, cuz from beginning to end, it was a three-ring circus of rod bendin, line stretchin, drag screamin, fish catchin FUN! 2, 3, 4 fish at a time coming over the gunnels, fish flopping on the floor and constant re-baiting like a mad-man! Throw in all four whooping and hollering AND bantering back and forth with their buddies in Trent's boat. PURE-D-FUN. After about 3 hours, the coolers in both boats were crammed/stuffed full and we headed in where the "work" really happened (cleaning and bagging)! Gotta love thse kind of days!

Bait of choice was shad colored Shad (live of course) and the Sandbass were very appreciative of our offerings. Majority of fish caught and cleaned were females, laden with roe, the males spewing milt. The spawn is assuredly in full swing and the time to get in on the action is NOW!!

Thank you Trent for allowing me the opportunity to help out! It was fun, entertaining and a blessing to participate!

Rod bendin, line stretchin, drag screamin fish catching FUN, beginning to end!
3/9/26

Ventured out on the invite from a friend to chase some Morones (Hybrids & Sandbass) up on Skiatook. The ole Predator got to sit at home today and got to be a passenger in Butch's new boat.

We focused in shallow waters with: temps 50° + and had a ball. We lost track/count once we got into the 70's on Hybrids, AND once the count got into the 30's of Sandbass, and then there were the dozen + Largmouth/Smallmouth to keep track of. Long and short of it, we simply had tons of fun! Dunno how many times we had doubles on, but more than a few. Did I mention we had FUN?? 😋

Thank you so much for the invite Butch! Guess I'ma gonna hafta hook up the Predator and go back up and play some more in days to come, and of course with a little cooperated from Mother Nature!

No live baits were sacrificed today, all artificals. Wore out/tore up a few soft plastics, but twist the two of us, didn't even lose a lead head! Only grabbed a couple of pics, too busy catchin!

Keystone 3/2/26

Lil bit of fishing with friends Curtis and son Matt for some Blues t'day. Was a tad more nipperty (chilly) than our infamous weather forecasters had projected, but we we prepared!

Shad were really scattered and deep, creating more net throws for me than expected, but hey, that's fishin and we still ended up with plenty nuff bait!

Off to the fishin grounds (my favorite), shallow, Power Pole depths. Baited up six lines, deployed em, and just like that, two rods started a rod bending, line stretching, drag screaming day of fish catching FUN (DOUBLES, YAY)!!! Now, I'm not gonna say the day ever turned into a three ring circus, BUT, it was a good day of fish catchin FUN with a pair of long time friends! Coulda been better I s'pose, but we garnered nuff primo filets to fill two one gallon zip lock bags for several forthcoming scrumptious fish fry's!

Curtis, Matt, it was a blessing to have both of ya together in the Ole Predator again today! Twas a fun, enjoyable day and I appreciate ya'll! Looking forward to yet another outing when we can!

Water temps from 54-58, slightly stained to murky. North breezes to begin falling off to near nuttin. Cloudy chilly day, but we'll worth the time and effort, and I got another day of being at my happy place!!

Relaxation "101"
How can ya beat a beautiful, 80°,calm, sun-soaked day in February filled with rod bendin, line stretchin, drag screamin, fish catchin FUN (with a good friend)? The epitome of RELAXATION for sure!! However, some folks definition of relaxation may/may not differ from mine, and that's okay😂

Decided last week to hook up with good friend Wayne Forrest today and chase some Blues for fun and entertainment. Coulda gone to a variety of lakes today, but good ole Keystone won the hidden coin toss! Launched about 7:30 this A.M. and after a bit of looking, found some big schools of Shad to toss the trusty deep hole net on, and voila loaded up on bait lickity-split! Did a little more lookin and found a good school of good Blues belly sliding along the bottom slurping down Shad! Fed em what they wanted and got rewarded with a plethora of bent rods.

Fished from 3-53 ft of water and caught fish at every spot. Some spots better than others numbers wise, but pretty consistent quality everywhere! All told, we boated 30 + cats today which may have included a Channel Cat or three 😋 A fun fun day on the water with a good friend with the like passion for fishing is just plain ole hard to beat!

Had a unique and very NOISEY visitor while out today too. Kept making touch and go landings and take-offs! NOT a fan,,,,,,,🤬

Thank you Wayne for joinng me today! It was loads of fun and I learned a bit from ya which I appreciate! Ready to do it again my friend!
