Panthertown Valley is open as of today (10/11). Visit panthertown carefully and please send us a trail report if you see downed trees or other trail issues. We have a workday planned on Great Trails State Day which lands on October 19th from 9 am - 2 pm at the Salt Rock Gap Trailhead and we’d love for you to join us. We understand WNC is going to take quite a while to heal. We ask that you help out the community first, people are priority, but if you get some free time we’d love your help out on the trails. We’ll be having a grilled cheese party afterwards to celebrate all the hard work that was put in.

Jackson County, NC is open for business and we would love to see you! Please keep in mind that neighboring counties did not fare as well as we did and try your best to limit your travels strictly to those areas that are publicly stating that they are open for visitors and travel. Unfortunately, disaster tourism is already making rescue and recovery efforts more difficult so please do not come to “site see” the devastation or visit areas that are deemed closed. It’s a beautiful day in Sapphire, North Carolina! The Mountain Cottage and are open for business. Our area (Cashiers and Sapphire, NC) was mostly spared by Helene and the roads are clear and cleanup has been done. The community needs your tourism support as many of the shops and restaurants count on “Leaf Season” for much of their annual revenue. Unfortunately, many other parts western NC are in really bad shape. We pray for a full recovery for our friends in those areas.
