✨️Teacher Spotlight✨️
Meet Michelle! She has been a part of The Balanced Yogi from the beginning and we couldn't be happier to feature her and get to know her more!
🐉 What do you hope your students feel when they practice with you?
I hope students leave feeling more grounded, steady, and connected to themselves. My intention is to create a supportive space where people can move with awareness, build confidence, and feel at home in their bodies.
🐉 Where are you from?
I’m originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and have been living in California for over a decade. Growing up near the ocean and spending many years surfing shaped my relationship with movement and continue to influence the way I teach today.
🐉 What teachers have inspired you in your practice and yoga journey?
I have been practicing yoga for over fifteen years. What began as a personal journey of self-discovery later deepened in college, where I studied Hatha Yoga and developed a deeper appreciation for the connection between movement, breath, and self-awareness.
My foundational teacher training comes from the Kest Yoga lineage. I have continued my studies through Bhakti Yoga with Janet Stone and traditional Ashtanga Yoga, including study in Mysore, India, under the guidance of Sharath Jois. More recently, earning my degree in Kinesiology has further shaped the way I teach by deepening my understanding of movement science and anatomy.
Wow, Michelle, you are an inspiration and we are so blessed to know you and learn with you!
Catch Michelle Tuesday evenings for a Candlelight Vinyasa at 7:30 pm!
