We strive to empower our students to be the best versions of themselves by offering instructional programs that promote quality, accountability, and character development. Kenpo 5.0 is a system designed to provide effective solutions to real world fighting situations. We develop physical skills for self-defense like coordination, speed, power, flexibility, balance and endurance through forms, self
-defense techniques, striking, blocking, kicking, grappling and sparring. Develop life skills such as self-confidence, respect, self-esteem, and leadership. Our Kid & Teen programs focus on self-awareness, self-esteem, anti-bullying, focus, determination, flexibility and fun. Our kids are more confident and aware and we pride ourselves on offering programs that focus on the betterment of our students. Kids: Watch your kids grow, develop and make everlasting friendships where they are encouraged to do well, strive for success, respect their parents, instructors and each other; get good grades and enjoy themselves. Teens: Help your teen learn effective self-defense applications through a belt-ranking system that teaches respect and discipline. Empower your teen and continue to build his or her self-esteem with a martial art that will positively change his or her life. Adults: Our program is dedicated to the serious-minded participant dedicated to learning both the physical side of martial arts and the science behind motion and self-defense. The adults get physical but also have a lot of fun! Fitness Kickboxing: For those interested in high intensity cardio training through bag work and plyometric fight conditioning. Associate Professor Renee Row joined her first Kenpo class in October of 2002 and earned her black belt from Mr. Speakman in 2007. Ready to test for her black belt in Las Vegas in late June 2007, Ms. Row was diagnosed with cancer just three weeks before. Needing immediate surgery, a special black belt test was scheduled in Santa Rosa in early June, where Mr. Speakman made a last-minute visit. Row earned her black belt on June 9th, 2007. Renee was declared cancer-free four months later. She has her MBA from Sonoma State University and is the parent of five children. Row currently holds the rank of 5th degree black belt earning that distinction in July 2022. Meet our other main instructor:
Miss Samantha French started Kenpo at the age of 11. She currently holds the distinction of being the first Jeff Speakman Teen Black Belt in Sonoma County and earned that degree in 2005. Miss French earned her adult Black Belt in 2009. She is well versed in the kids curriculum and has taught children for almost 15 years! Miss French has her Masters degree in Organizational Leadership from Arizona State University and is currently a 5th degree black belt.
