20 years ago, when I started training at Renaissance ClubSport, I quickly learned the value of service and professionalism.

We had to greet members from 10 feet away with a smile and our hands behind our back.

When answering the phone, we said: “This is Chris at Renaissance ClubSport. I’d be delighted to serve you.”

The gym charged premium rates because the brand delivered a premium experience.

Even the little things mattered.

Strawberry flavored water. Eucalyptus towels.
Staff who knew your name.

Most trainers are frugal.

The moment they hear a price, they say, “That’s too expensive.”

Ironically, that’s the same objection they hear from potential clients.

What trainers need to understand is this:

We are in the service industry.

If you’re just taking clients through workouts, they’ll see you like every other trainer.

A commodity.

Want to stand out?

Get involved.

Ask better questions.
Remember their kids’ names.
Have water ready.
End sessions with a protein shake.
Connect them with a DPT or RD.
Arrive 30 minutes early.
Implement soft tissue mobilizations.
Make them smile.

The more value you provide, the less people focus on price.

The clients I serve gladly pay $200+ per hour because they aren’t paying for exercises.

They’re paying for service.
Professionalism.
Results.
And an experience.
