At SUF, we don’t celebrate a photo holding a piece of paper.

Getting certified is easy.

Becoming QUALIFIED is what matters.

Meet Tenesha | Certified Personal Trainer for Millennial Women & Anthony 👊 Two SUF-CPTs who just got hired at Life Time & Equinox.

THAT’S what we celebrate.

We help trainers develop the business, people & technical skills to get into the best possible positions, help more clients and make a solid living doing what they love.

Your first training job shouldn’t mean settling for $9–$27/hour because you have an entry-level certification.

Get certified.
Gain supervised experience & hands on learning.
Become qualified.
Get hired.
LEVEL UP.

Way to SHOW UP! 👊

3 of my favorite shoulder exercises:

1️⃣ Trainer-Engaged Pressing w/ Iso Holds
2️⃣ Split-Stance Vertical Press
3️⃣ Trainer-Engaged Lateral Raises

But knowing great exercises isn’t enough.

Knowing WHEN & WHERE to program them is key.

I’d put Exercise #2 in CCA 1 for optimal tension.

Exercise #1 in CCA 2 for trainer engagement + stability.

Exercise #3 in CCA 3 as an accessory.

Exercise selection matters.

Programming matters more.

We’re trying to help more personal trainers become SUCCESSFUL.

PLEASE SHARE (50-have already signed up)

Unfortunately, too many trainers get certified, enter the industry and quit within the first few years.

We want to better understand WHY.

We’re looking to survey 100 trainers about their experience getting certified and building a career in personal training.

You qualify if you:

• Are currently a NASM-CPT OR have been NASM certified within the last 10 years
• Are willing to give honest feedback about your experience
• Are NOT SUF-CPT certified

Good experience. Bad experience. Still training. Quit years ago.

We want to hear it all.

Our goal is simple: identify where trainers are struggling so we can help improve the future of the personal training industry.

SUF-CPTs cannot apply.

Comment NASM and we’ll send you the survey.

Credit to this young buck Keith Boatright for putting himself out there and asking for feedback 👏

THIS is what becoming a personal trainer looks like.

He’s currently going through the SUF-CPT Chris Hitchko and wanted some feedback on his deadlift.

Not bad, my man! A few tweaks and you got this 💪

Remember, the greats ALL get feedback along their journey.

The best trainers don’t pretend to know everything. They ask questions, get coached, practice and KEEP SHOWING UP.

Want some feedback on your lifts?

DM us a video and we’ll help!

How to Spot a BAD Beginner Workout Program 🚩

Trainers struggle with programming. Here are 3 easy ways to determine if a beginner’s program was written by someone who actually understands training:

1. Look at the rep scheme

Beginners don’t need 3–8 rep max-effort sets.

Higher-rep ranges, typically 10+ reps, give beginners more opportunities to practice the core movement patterns, develop neuromuscular control, build work capacity, and progressively expose connective tissue to load.

Learn the movement. Build competency. Then progressively load it.

2. Look at the exercise variations

KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid 💩

🚩 Stability ball squat curl press 😂 🤡.

Beginners don’t need circus exercises designed for Instagram.

Squat. Hinge. Unilateral. Push. Pull. Press. Transitional.

Master the core patterns and progressively overload them.

Simple exercises + intelligent progression = RESULTS.

Fancy doesn’t mean effective.

3. Look at the trainer’s credentials

NASM-CPT, CES, PES, WLS, PN1…

Alphabet soup doesn’t equal competency.

Some of the best coaches simply put TRAINER or COACH in their bio because they’re confident in their ability to get results.

If you’re looking at credentials, look for education that develops actual coaching competency: BS Kinesiology/Exercise Science, CSCS, ACSM, SUF, NPTI, or programs emphasizing current evidence, mentorship, and hands-on learning.

An entry-level certification is exactly that:

ENTRY LEVEL.

It gets you started. It doesn’t make you an expert programmer.

Great programming isn’t sexy.

Assess → Program → Progressively Overload → Get Results.

KISS. Keep Showing Up.

Afraid of sales? Not confident in your delivery?

Not closing 50%+ of your assessments?

When was the last time you recorded a mock session and actually watched yourself sell?

Common objections like:

“It’s too expensive.”
“Let me think about it.”
“I need to talk to my significant other.”

MAY happen.

Or maybe it’s your confidence. Your delivery. Your breath smells 🤮😂

Or, in my opinion, your training session didn’t demonstrate enough VALUE for someone to invest $150+/hour with you.

Textbooks don’t teach the business, people & technical skills needed to build a successful career.

Show Up Fitness does.

Need a foundation certification for life? SUF-CPT.

Want to sell with confidence, assess clients in pain & learn soft tissue techniques? SUF-STM.

Want to build sustainable streams of revenue through nutrition coaching with an RD on your team? SUF-NC.

Don’t just get certified.

Become QUALIFIED.

Comment SHOWUP and I’ll send you our latest Show Up Fitness Podcast episode on becoming a more confident, successful trainer - it's a live mock sales session with an Equinox trainer.
