Come drift through Ocean of Sound on June 6 and experience LIGHT & AIR STUDIES by Faith-Ann Young Art—an atmospheric textile installation in the upstairs Sand & Sea Room, presented in collaboration with dublab and Annenberg Community Beach House.

Exploring light, movement, translucency, and the shifting relationship between sound, air, and water along the Pacific coastline, the installation transforms the space into a meditative environment for reflection and listening. Faith-Ann Kiwa Young is a Los Angeles-based installation artist working across textile, photography, and painting, and is a recent Artist-in-Residence at Camera Obscura Art Lab.

Ocean of Sound will also feature Periphone by Nina Keith, with live sonic contributions by Meg Duffy of Hand Habits and Qur’an Shaheed.

While the event is currently sold out, visitors are still welcome to explore the installation and enjoy the music from around the site. Guests interested in accessing the pool deck may join a waitlist at the event if space becomes available.

There’s still time to build your boat for this year’s Cardboard Yacht Regatta!

Gather your crew, break out the duct tape, and prepare to set sail across the Beach House pool in one of our favorite summer traditions.

Using only corrugated cardboard and duct tape, teams will race their handmade yachts across the water in a morning full of creativity, chaos, and community spirit. Whether your boat glides to victory or earns the trophy for “Most Likely to Sink,” we’ll be cheering you on either way!

📅 Saturday, June 13 | 9AM-1PM

📣 Spectating is free and highly encouraged

Preregistration is required to race, so don’t wait too long to start building!

A huge thank you to everyone who spent their Saturday with us at Take A Moment: An Unplugged Day of Rest.

On May 2, the Beach House welcomed all types of rest: physical, mental, sensory, creative, emotional, social, spiritual, and so much more. Throughout the day, guests created art, listened to live music by the pool, joined sound baths, floated in the water, gardened, picked up a new book, and even simply took a quiet moment for themselves. Thank you all for embracing this restorative takeover at the Beach House.

We’re also incredibly grateful to the artists, partners, and staff who helped shape such a thoughtful and restorative day, including Seda Saar, Camille Langston, Nailah Hunter, BLACKMUSEUMIST, Friends of the Library, and the Office of Sustainability and the Environment.

Until next time. 🌊💛
