It begins… the 2026 calving season has officially started. Everyone thinks California is void of seasons but that’s not true especially on a ranch. It’s marked by the cyclical timing in our cattle’s breeding cycle. Our cows should all be done calving in the next couple months, then it will be branding time, then breeding time, then time to wean in the spring and the cycle starts again. Our calving, branding, breeding and weaning seasons all correlate with the weather and times of the year. On the Camatta ranch we have been raising cattle with the seasons for 6 generations.
