Santa Cruz CA since 1996 I am an ancient master. Ancient, and frothy. And so was the birth of the Biscuit.

And like a Master Samurai in Feudal Japan would construct his own sword, I began to forge my own weapon for the furtherance of aquatic glory... I began to forge the Superbiscuit. It began simply enough... a way to cool off and alleviate boredom at the beach, advancement to more sophisticated setups, more challenging and powerful barrels; a chance encounter with a friend at a cold, slabby beach bre

ak north of Santa Cruz would provide the catalyst- an antiquated 80's hand plane, resembling a rainbow flip-flop with weird straps... the difference in speed and maneuverability lit a fire in my brain and the journey had begun. It languished, nameless for years. At the time, nomenclature was not important to me. My first attempt, the Protobiscuit, was amateurish and rudimentary- but functional. I struggled for years to overcome the Strap Dilemma. Then, while suiting up for a session at It's Beach, my eyes fell upon a windsurfboard and the way its straps were affixed to the board. An epiphany- and the ongoing engineering process of Biscuitry was born. It continues to evolve to this day.

New favorite selfie 😆 I was gonna make some kinda “hanging with the buoys” joke but…

After getting so much rain, there are a lot of interesting sandbars in Santa Cruz, it’s unusual to have so many of them at the same time. I wanted to do the “Midtown Trifecta”, but after the second one (and arguably hardest to score as a bodysurfer), I was frozen solid and called it a day hahaha 🥶

Starting to feel like winter here in NorCal… here’s hoping some of my favorite sandbars turn on this year 🤞

When I swam out at this spot, the bait ball and all the pelicans and seals and stuff were way up the beach, as the session progressed they got closer to us, and at one point (1:42) moved right over and through me and the other people in the water. The bait ball thing is a pretty common springtime occurrence here in Santa Cruz, but in the almost 30 years I've been bodysurfing this beach, I've never had this happen hahaha.

I was out for a while cause my old supplier went out of business… 😢 These are 5 panel black snap backs, with the logo being embroidered in white instead of printed on like my old ones.
