Each year the MTAI’s owner and his wife make Christmas tree decorations for the students at the academy. This is the best one yet because we all helped make them over the years.

And now, her real training begins… my goal is to work with her so that in the future, she’ll help students with drills in the cage. She’ll add a bit of reality of the streets while they train. Distraction, heightened adrenaline, and a bit of outside aggression.

Recently found out about the passing of my first coach at The Muay Thai Academy International. I started with him way back in 94.

Shaun “Kid Lightning” had the fastest legs, and he’s the reason why my kicks are what they are today. I still carry on the tips and tricks he showed me with my students at the Academy.

Shaun Smith was a great teacher and and even better person. He made this skinny teenage boy feel comfortable sharing a floor with mercenaries, operators on leave between assignments, brawler types, and scary ass giants men who’d break their ribs conditioning with 2X4’s. Rest easy, Sir.

We are heartbroken to announce that we have lost one of our nearest and dearest on February 19, 2021, Mr. Shaun Dexter Smith.

Rest in peace “Kid Lighting”.
